Yes he gets credit for the breakout of Harden but his Rockets teams were always short of a championship so let's quit acting like he is this FO genius. And 2) Ben Simmons not playing is a negative asset to the 76ers at this point since his contract is on the books and he isn't helping the team out at all. Trading him for a decent package (not sure what that would be) is better than sitting and letting him pout while eating up their cap space and not improving the team on the floor. Hell, role players would still give you something every night in order to help win games and losing his cap space may help the 76ers bring on additional help. Overall this is an insane story and all sides are to blame but at this point I don't see why you don't just cut bait and ship him out for whatever you can get now to move on and build a different team around Embiid.
Morey pretty consistently comes out on the winning end of deals and does a nice job of managing assets. Player relations isn't his strong suit. He was kind of strong armed into the Russ trade, and ran into some injury misfortune (CP3 when rockets were up 3-2 vs Warriors, T-Mac/Yao were both often injured). He pretty consistently puts his team in a good position.
Anyway, Simmons is really putting on a display of next level player entitlement. How hard is it to show up and practice like the rest of your teammates when you get paid 30+ mil a year. If he keeps this up I hope they keep fining and/or suspending him.
In the words of Marcin Gorat: "Listen, you get paid $12 million a year, there is no way you can have a bad day," Gortat said. "You can't have a bad day. There is so many people having problems in the world. What it is your problem? Coming to practice and work out for two, three hours? Is this your problem?"
