Yep. We are talking about ~$16 million assuming he gets traded at the deadline. There is no way the Sixers will just take his word and pay him without a thorough evaluation. This also doesn't put the money back into his pocket, it just potentially halts fines against the funds in escrow.
I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt given that he has spoke to the team candidly and they, by all reports, seem to buy his story. On top of that we all know the shooting and sister stuff all has some mental component. HOWEVER, if the evaluation comes back that he is faking this.... yikes. He'll go down as the biggest sports villain in Philadelphia sports history.
