Don't sleep on Charlotte. they have guys coming into their own and have a lineup full of 2-way players. We struggled with them all of last year. even when they were short handed. Well coached too.

Young scrappy team on a sunday earlier in the end has all the makings of an upset home opener. guys need to come prepared and bring it

True on all counts. Charlotte and Chicago are the two EC teams that I feel could trouble us more than their record will indicate. They both may end up sub-.500 on the season, but they'll give us fits with their athleticism, aggressive perimeter ball-hawking and open court playmaking.

It would be a gut punch to lose our home opener. We need to solve our defensive strategy against the corner 3. We have too many regular rotation players losing their assignments while ball watching. Then their guy relocates and splashes and open 3. Charlotte plays small ball a ton, so I think we'd better have a new starting lineup with Brown, or at least a very short leash on Nic.

Bruce had the size, strength and speed to bother Lamelo the way that few can. I don't think it would be wise to put any of James, Joe, Jevon or Patty on him unless it's an unavoidable switch. Have Bruce Almighty shadow him the whole game, and then we shouldn't have to worry about Charlotte controlling the pace.

This is going to be a tough game to win against a young team with good players.

We're going to need Brown and Bembry this afternoon.

Also, for the love of God, if Nash starts with the big line up again I will scream. That line up is terrible. Blake hasn't been good but I'd rather start him at C and insert Brown back into the line up. We've gone down by double digits because of that line up.

I'd put carter on him and pressure him end to end. dont let him get a clear look at anything. Save Brown for Bridges.

In either event, Nash needs to come around to playing defensive players at some point. Brown/Bembry have big value even if they dont hit threes. at the moment we are getting nothing at the rim. both brown and bembry are great cutting and finishing at the hoop. they need to play more. I get there is a roster logjam, but stop going big and give some of the smaller scrappy guys some burn

I suspect LaMelo will look to make a statement on James.

I remember Hornets stupidly throwing doubles at LMA last season when we played them at home. Let's hope they do the same again.

Tough opponent or not, I am sure the Hornets are looking at this as a potential loss for themselves more than we are. We are "expected" to win this game, hence I am not going to panic or worry. Nets will not have a perfect start to the season and that's fine, in two months, people will be raving at how hard it will be to beat us. That's the nature of having two phenomenal superstars in Harden/KD with Kyrie probably returning at some point.

I know alot of people look to last year on how they rank teams, but i see the hornets as top 4 in the east:

Heat
Nets
Bucks
Hornets
Hawks
Sixers
Knicks
Celtics

or something like that. the hornets are legit. the NBA is about 2 things... 1) high end talent. 2) 2-way players. the hornets have a ton of 2 way players and lamelo is probably top 25 right now and climbing fast. they also have a good coach which always makes it a bit tugher since nash is a dunce.

im not saying we lose, but id have it at a coin toss, given its early and young teams play great the first couple weeks of the season.

Ooh fair point, Miles is a problem, especially this season in a contract year and a consistent starting role. Yeah, I'm good with both Jevon and Bruce logging heavy minutes tomorrow, and at least a rotation cameo from DeAndre.

Didn't we lose our first game against the Hornets last season? In any case I'd reflect the general sentiment in the thread so far. The Hornets are a good up and coming team, so we best bring our A game from the start.

i believe the beat us the first 2 games.

id feela lot better if it wasnt an early weekend game.

we could and should win, but i think its a lock we are looking at an early 12-15 point deficit

I'm pretty sure it will be a sell out. There are only section 205 for sale on Ticket master and those seats are resales.

I’m really hoping that’s not the starting lineup again. I will admit it is the starting five I wanted since Kyrie wasn’t playing. Now I changed my mind big time.

Nash hasnt been shy to shuffle the deck in the past with lineups. hopefully he ditches that awful big lineup too

Yeah I think that's one of his best attributes. However, he's also slow to react when something is not working.
