I think we need to move Layman and a 2nd to free up a signing of someone with size. He’s a SF, but we have McD, Prince, and Bolmoro that fit best at the 3.

Or just swap him for a need. But, yup, do something with Layman.

Have you seen his stats? He was only playing because Dwight Powell was out.
With respect, this is objectively untrue. Like, not even remotely accurate.
I admit I did very little research on DFS. I was just looking to make the money work to get Moses Brown.

Paul Reed only played garbage time for the 76ers. I am not convinced he is in their long term plans. Not quite sure what they need, but he would be big if we could get him. I would gladly give both 2nd round picks and a layman or Nowell.

A recent Trade Board thread the question, “Who on your own team is a “sell high” candidate?
Right now, I don’t think that’s anyone on the Timberwolves. Even players with good stats have the stench of losing seasons depressing their trade value. I enjoy a good trade as much as anyone, so hopefully a strong, winning, start to the season will help many of our players recover their trade value and allow us to get full value if we make a trade.
In the meantime, I’m going to forget about trades, and just sit back and enjoy the wins this team gives me.

Chimezie Metu and Bagley both got DNP’s. I like Metu, who plays more within himself then Bagley.

Season has started … imo it’s time to move on and look for potential moves for PF at the deadline.
Reid better bump his defense of he’s not gonna get the minutes he expects. That has to be his focus if he wants to prove worthy long-term in the NBA - last night was not a positive for him. His value will tumble of Finch is unable to get him playing man basketball.

When throwing contract situation into the mix, I think maybe the best candidate would be Naz Reid. RFA tends to depress contract value, and when you throw Reid's limited minutes behind Towns, I think some could see untapped potential and a chance to get a bargain.
While you could say we wouldn't be getting his full return because of those things, think about it in terms of what we could potentially get in return for a 15-20 mpg backup. Because with Towns, that will essentially be his role here.

Nowell & whatever else for Reed seems like perfect roster balancing type of move....just don't see 76ers selling on him until they're 100% certain they know how the BS deal is going to go?winforlose wrote:Paul Reed only played garbage time for the 76ers. Not that now is an active time anyways....but the sooner we can add another big type it would be so helpful & so many teams will be on hold until BS is traded...

I am not sure they are holding him until BS moves. I could also see us giving them the rights to Knight so we can get another two way to replace the outgoing player and so can they. Reed is a third string behind both Embiid and Drummond, I don’t think he is high priority for them.
You are correct that this is not a typically active trade time, but our needs are immediate and the scope of the deal would be minor, so it could happen whenever.

While I agree with parts of that case that he could be a sell high guy....you just can't consider moving him with the lack of other bigs on the roster can you?Klomp wrote:shrink wrote:A recent Trade Board thread the question, “Who on your own team is a “sell high” candidate?

Only Vando and MCD are large enough to play the 5 and neither of them is heavy enough or strong enough. It would exacerbate the small ball problem. Naz must stay where he is.

There are free agent centers who could fill the void

Re: Trade Talk (Part Nine) (READ FIRST POST)
I think Dallas could be a prime trade partner. They have a couple of areas that we lack in:
Bigs (Powell, Kleber, Cauley-Stein
3/D Wings (Bullock, Green)
What can we offer them? If shooting is what they need, offer Beasley. If they want more floor-spacing posts, could offer Reid.
They are a team that could be in flux by the deadline and may be itching to make a move. Could we capitalize on their misfortune?

If we are trading Beasley or Reid we better be getting much more back, just saying...

Dallas basically already has Beasley in Hardaway Jr, I doubt there’s much interest.

I like Boucher and Kleiber as low cost targets.
I noticed Thad Young was the Spurs only DNP-CD on the whole roster in their first game. He had a decent season last year with the Bulls. I know his wife didn’t like Minneapolis, and he’s not flashy, but adding a PF wouldn’t hurt.

Wonder if Clips would be willing to trade Luke Kennard. He would be a reliable shooting option next to DLO, Edwards, and KAT. I would love to see Wolves make a run at Bertans as well.
