It's the SAME narrative because they're doing the SAME thing year in year out.

The unpopular opinion is Luka needs to buy into a system of a coach he trusts and not keep winging it every possession. Sure we get great results when he wings it while 4 other players just stand by and watch. The step backs, the up and under buzzee beaters are good for regular season wins but won't get you far in the playoffs. But when you get a coach like Ty Lue who knows how to position guys like Lebron while the ball is moving,(and here comes the important part) and you get a guy like Lebron to buy into what Ty Lue is running, then you have better ball movement. There is no player in the NBA that can wing it 100% and win a ring. Even Jordan had to fall in line under Phil and the triangle and get the others involved. We know Jordan could take anyone in the league 100% of the time at any point in the game. You need to buy into the system at some point. This early into the season, with a coach of his approval, Im hoping he runs some plays that Kidd is calling. It may cost them some games early, but it gets the others involved so they get more weapons for the playoffs. Its just good for the team long term. Luka is signed long term. It's just the euro fans that keep pushing the narrative that Dallas has to win one now or he leaves in 2 years. There is no proof of that happening whatsoever.

Did you really watch last Clippers series? Clippers were dead and buried in first Q of game 3. Luka going in bench, when he was killing them, change the momentum, not Lue. And even after that, just KP playing some D would have been enough.

Luka didn't win anything yet? Of course not, he's 22 years old and he came in lottery team. Jordan couldn't win that early, LeBron couldn't. Prime Jordan or prime LeBron wouldn't have won anything with this Mavs roster. Luka not winning anything that early is not proving anything.

Let's see if things can improve under Kidd. It's still early, but we can gauge whether he moves the needle or not. Luka approved the Kidd hiring (so did Dirk) so it's not like it caught him by surprise. We'll see.

Things have to be nailed down when the playoffs arrive. You dont experiment in the playoffs. Playoff teams go small and vets know how to win games and eventually the series. If Kidd and Luka want to experiment and run some plays, now is the time to do so. Dare I say, even if it loses them some early regular season games. Dallas cant afford to pull another Boban starting at center move this year. Hell no.

You know where I stand when it comes to the issue of Harden ball. I'm not going to explain myself 50 times nor will I suddenly change my opinion. However, I'm open to changing my views once I'm proven wrong by Harden or Luka that such a style of play can win a ring. It's not hating when those two haven't won anything yet using the same style year in year out. Elon Musk had his haters until he actually did something to shut them up. Like I said, I'm open to changing my views once that happens.

Luka offball is useless. Its not his game, like posting up isnt dfs or KPs game. Did anyone watching mavs think that were a goid idea? I dont think so. Sadly too maby lemmings here that got an issue thinking by themselves. Those media dudes watch mavs once every 2 weeks and do hottakes that if u watch all games, doesnt make sense.

And still, on top of that, we got certain posters here that think we could have signed half the league this summer and think the grass always is greener on the other side of the fence. Limited assets, limited opportunities. If u have something to say, say the trade or signing that should had been done and how that looked on our cap. 99% of that will be shut down cause it would made us a worse team. Personally think it would have been hard finding a better player for that money we signed bullock into.

Wouldnt mind mavs forum being locked during games. So annoying posts that id just hottakes in the moment. Get a twitter account for that if u want to spew ****. When game is over, open it up and we got a full picture of the game and can have the discussion about it

I'm explaining to you it won't, because Luka is not the problem, coach is not the problem, at least it wasn't in the past. Max. player being negative in the court is a problem, extremely limited roster is the problem, non existing bench is a problem, management not improving roster in last 3 years was/is a problem, Cuban taking roster decisions is a problem. Before those things change, Mavs are not winning anything. Not because of Luka, but in spite of Luka playing great.

So the media is doing this on purpose to put a cap on Luka's stats? For the sake of discussion, how high is too high for them? If Luka averages in the low 20s, will they stop?

But according to some anti-Luka on this thread, he will never win a title if he plays like Harden. And he should trust his teammates more by letting DFS posting up and create shots for others. Lol.

Mavs need an all star forward. Replace DFS or Powell with an all star at that position who can create shots by himself, then Dallas is set.

Trade incoming needed...

Still think Kidd needs to give Omoruyi a good look.
He can bring something this team has desperately needed (Power and Strength) for a few years.
Seems to have the strength, attitude, aggression and skills to give us some good minutes.
Not sure he is the answer but I'd like to see how high his ceiling can be.

I understand Dallas is not LA, but they didn't sign nobody decent in last 3 years. They got rid of Barnes and Seth, who would have been starters in this team. Mavs is looking like Knicks dropouts team. How that can be good is beyond my understanding.

Things like this happen when the guy with the thickest wallet ALSO thinks he's the smartest guy in the room.

There were a lot of names available after Kyle Lowry. The refusal to recognize and sign talent is puzzling to say the least.

Last season's stuff was last season's stuff. I understand Nico Harrison needs a decent runway to get things done his way, including hiring his internal employees. Just hope Cuban doesn't micromanage that and his dealings moving forward.

Starting Powell this year seems like a move to gauge whether or not to keep him beyond his current deal next year. I'm on the camp that Powell doesn't have a future in Dallas anymore. They need to clear salary and roster spots for better fitting pieces around Luka. I have to agree that starting Powell may also be a move to raise his trade value. Can't trade him for a decent return by sitting him on the bench like last year.

Pretty much agree but I think the biggest problem of this team is that we have a plethora of 7th men. I can live with one of DFS, Maxi, Powell, Bullock, WCS and maybe a few others (Brown, Frank) in the SL, but having any 2 of them in the SL limits our ceiling imo.
We haven't given ourselves an opportunity to improve at all if the rotation last night is the norm going forward.
You simply cannot have DFS and Powell in the SL and seriously call yourself a legit contender.

Luka offball is the stupidest **** ive ever heard. And we see how that works now. Its just media that want it so his stats wouldnt get too high. Espn and **** are scared **** that the 3 best players in nba is european now.

U ever hear that lebron need a ballhandler so he can rest? Kyrie? And so on. No, and it wont happen since it **** them over. What luka need is a 3nD guard that can defend pgs and move good offball. Luka offball is useless. Its not his game, like posting up isnt dfs or KPs game. Did anyone watching mavs think that were a goid idea? I dont think so. Where did those ideas come from that it should work? Media. Media must have had a perty whrn mavs signed a relatively inexperienced manager they could influence. If we still had had rick he would just jave told them to go **** themselves and that they are clueless.

Mavs roster has 5 Knicks dropouts, one Kings dropouts, a player Boston didn't want, a giant with big heart, someone who has solid season in tanking Houston, 2 ex rookies, who didn't show anything yet...starters are DFS and Powell. If you give 5 years old kid to make that roster, you would be pretty disappointed.

Dallas could have swung for Demar Derozan when Kyle Lowry said no.

Derozan could have easily outproduced DFS in that SF spot. Scored 26 and 21 pts in 2 games now. Those numbers with Lavine and Vucevic scoring their own numbers too. Luka could use those guys who can dribble and create their own shots and not just stand in a corner waiting for a 3.

I'm not sure "showcasing" Powell for a trade is a wise thing to do if that means sacrificing wins in the process.
The guy is 30 and has been given every opportunity imaginable to improve but is still good at only one thing.
We can get by starting him against teams with 6'9 centers but there are too many contending teams in the West with decent centers that Powell simply can't match up with.

I'm afraid Powell's only value to us going forward is an eventual expiring contract.

They could be showcasing Powell for Toronto for when they decide to trade Dragic. Powell spent time on the bench all of last year and pretty much had zero value. If they could package him + Brunson + DFS for a real starting caliber forward, I'm all for it. Consolidation of assets can move the needle forward. The bench is set with Brown and Bullock.

And ditched THJ if so. Derozan averaged 21pts last season, signed for 85m, and spurs got a 1st thad and aminu. We dont have the contracts to match that. U think spurs would have wanted powell burke kleber something more? We cannot trade another 1st or every future trade for a good player is gone for atleast 5 years. Its not realistic.

Showcasing powell for spurs? Well, people are **** their pants here over our players performance those 2 games, so we need dragic. That scored 2 points last night. Its always greener on the other side of the fence. But i bet we still got ppl that think we should give up 1sts and young players for him. Watch the games!

Timmy scored 25 last night. Since apparently we judge the team on those 2 games he is better then anyone that even been rumoured. But we will see. Bulls looking good, fun to watch. Once the playoff starts they will be slaughtered. Vuc dont defend, lavine doesnt, derozan doesnt.

On the positive. Our defense looked great those 2 games. We tried to get better at that last offseason with the jrich trade, which it pretty much only were me and someone more that were agaibst, but I bought it cause i understood what they tried to do. Noone thought he would suck that badly defensively, if someone says they did, its a lie. This year it seems its gone forward.

What I dont get is why we got those 2 way wings, then play 2 centers or pgs instead of using them

Nobody says he have to play off the ball, it could be stupid.
But he needs help...and you mentioned Lebron, yes he went to Kyrie's Cavs.

Are you angry?, Take it easy man...It's just basketball.
