hotter take than that: i doubt anybody wants him

hottest take: his next contract is vet min with the MavKnicks

Very much possible he lands with the Mavs; but not with the vetmin part

Other positives are Rose, his shooting is close to amazing and it looks sustainable, and Mitch even at ~70% is a huge game changer.
I really want to see Grimes and Deuce on the accelerated development track. I know it wont happen any time soon but they are possible answers to our current weaknesses and both are two way players.

The organization seems paralyzed when it comes to acquiring an actual starting PG - maybe because the price is supposedly "so" high (it's high for a reason). But Rose is playing like one. So why not start Rose, and get a competent two-way back-up PG via trade.

There's a reason why Boston and OKC felt they were better off without Kemba Walker.

I don't really see the benefit of that. Either way, the minute distribution is the same.

I also don't think a competent two-way PG is easy to get, backup or otherwise.

Kemba is just here to soak up non-Rose mins

I agree about the minutes distribution. I was moreso focusing on the trade.

I agree that a competent PG isn't easy to get. That's because the position is important, which underlines how much we need to fix it.

The Knicks have to make a sacrifice to get a real PG at some point.

We suck at PG because we're always looking for bargains and we're never willing to pay full price for quality. No more Kemba for $8 mill, or Payton for $5 mill. Make a trade. It might just be more realistic to find a solid back-up PG than a star PG.

I hate to tell you this but rose isn't an actual starting pg either, I know he's been really good for us but he's a backup, and I'm sure there were reasons that plenty of teams have felt they were better off without him as well, including the cavs, pistons, timberwolves, and knicks in 2017

Rose would be a competent starting PG imo.

His game has evolved since those last stints in New York, Minnesota and Cleveland that you mentioned. He's looking to involve his teammates way more than he did in years past imo. He's also played well in the 4th quarter, against presumably the opposing team's best line-ups. So I'd say he could at the very least be a competent starting PG.

Rose is the victim of a lot of narratives. He's judged against 2011 Rose. If you strip the name you have a top 15-20ish PG easily. He's only not a starter in name he's humbled himself but there's no reason he shouldn't have been starting over inferior guards like Jeff Teague, Killian Hayes and Elfrid Payton.

If only there had been a defensive PG, that moves the ball and can shoot the three available in free agency, if only we could have signed a player like that from a family that has neva lost.

He's been playing great but I'm an advocate of, it ain't broke don't fix it. he's been an elite 6th man. he's excelled in this role. we tried starting him in the playoffs last year and he looked gassed by the end of it and we lost all 3 games, I dunno if he can survive a whole season of that

I like RJ as a person but as a player he annoys me so much. He's a jack of all trades kind of guy but a master of none. He's below average finisher and he has an inconsistent shot and plus he's slow af. I fear....he has already peaked! If he can be traded for a superstar, you jump at that chance.
