Coming to a place to expand your game and grow does not equal just wanting to chuck at your heart's content, team success be damned. There's no doubt in my mind that Grant is constantly told to stay aggressive, keep getting up shots. So that's what he's doing.
There's also no doubt in my mind that there's the understanding that as the talent around him gets better, the role he's playing would evolve. There's ALSO no doubt in my mind that he'd be more than willing to accept being a 2nd/3rd option as opposed to 5th in Denver. He's always been known as high IQ and a team player. Cut the bs narrative of him being a future malcontent. He's smart enough to know what his game really is FFS.
This line of thinking has been overplayed for too long.

The problem with your argument is that HE DOES TAKE plenty of horrible shots when he could assist another shooter who has a better opportunity.
No way would I believe the coaches are ordering him to take bad shots. He does have great games, I love watching him when he is on. But part of the time he is a black hole and decides to take horrible attempts.
He doesn't do this that much, but enough to where it is noticeable. Now, imagine how much more noticeable those times will be when it's an open Cade waiting for a crisp pass and instead Grant tries to take on a double team and forces up bad shots in a close 4th quarter?
I can assure you that, if it happens, will be very noticeable to Pistons fans.
Am I saying this WILL HAPPEN as an absolute fact? No, but I have seen enough of these kind of shots to make me suspect we will eventually see this happen.
So I will be watching Grant's game closely this year, HOPING he and Cade make a good team and actually feed each other when they can help the other get an open shot. Time will tell.
I didn't say they were telling him to take bad shots, but to continue to stay aggressive. If he's sometimes taking a shot while being covered and someone's open it doesn't make him selfish, it just speaks to bad vision. It's not like he's Stuckey out there.
Furthermore, other than Bey who tf should he be passing to right now instead taking tough shots? To go further, his NEED (yes, sometimes there's a need) to force shots will decrease dramatically with Cade back. It's like we didn't see him defer to the corpse of Blake Griffin, who he had no business pausing his game for. That to me speaks to him being aware of time and place.

Yes, they tell him be aggressive no doubt, but I think he knows that it goes without saying that he shouldn't take bad shots with a low percentage of working out.
There's no doubt he takes an uncomfortable amount of overly congested shots when should keep the ball moving. Last year he was out a game I remember and the ball movement was wonderful for that game.
He now shares some with Bey, he will have to cut his shots down even further because Cade will also require as many or more than Bey does.
The mere fact that he does sometimes take bad shots is reason enough to be aware that this will have to be cut down on as we add another main scoring option. That's just simple truth.
And Piston fans will be paying attention to a high degree when it comes to their number 1 pick getting a good share of the shots.
Let's face it, adding Cade will cut down shots for everyone else as he will most likely become the number one option shortly.
That's why I always say we won't be needing Killian to score much. It's his passing and fishing off that our 3 main scorers will need. If Killian is around 12 to 15 pts a game efficiently and 8 assists he will be just right for us.
This is another reason Beef Stew will continue starting, because there wouldn't even be close to enough shots for KO when playing with our main 3 scorers.
We would be wasting KO's scoring ability in the starting unit and then hampering the bench by taking that scoring away from them.
So I and many other Pistons fans will be hoping and watching for Grant to evolve his game to add Cade in. It may mean significantly fewer shots for him, especially once Cade becomes THE GUY .
