Nah, Arrowhead is still one of the toughest/loudest places to play, and the original 3rd down call needs to be better. The kid had all of 3 days of practice with the starters (basically one with Davante due to protocols). The chemistry just isn't there yet and the coaching staff needs to understand that.
On their lone TD drive Love was at one point 7 for 7 from the pocket because, surprise surprise, they weren't asking him to do 5-step drop-backs under center and have him progress through his 2nd and 3rd reads. I don't care if it's rookie Peyton Manning out there, you can't hang your incredibly raw young QB out to dry like that and expect him to improvise at the line with the play-clock winding down. Just an overall poor offensive game-plan with zero creativity and going away from what we were doing best (running the ball). LaFleur wasn't just covering for his young QB, he was being honest.
Weren't a great deal of his incompletions in the early 2nd half on plays where he couldn't hit a hot receiver when (correctly) identifying blitz?
I think that was my biggest complaint.
I'm not the best football mind these days but generally I'd welcome a blitz in the NFL and just have my WRs dominate 1 on 1. But that is a bit of a tall task for a young guy like Love, maybe.
