We're all animals. you can't find any positive traits in fellow animals?

Both players probably won't make the league if they are not related to a star player.

I really hate this sort of cynical logic that I see from people.
On one level, there's truth in it: Obviously if your dad was in the NBA, you're more likely to dedicate yourself to basketball and see it as an actual career.
But the implication of these statements is either nepotism, or overrating, or both, and I really just don't see it. A guy like Payton, or Seth Curry, is seen by scouts from a young age and they basically turned their nose up at him. From that point onward, if Payton isn't someone who fights hard for everything he gets, if Payton at all feels like he has an ego because of who his dad is, he's done. No GM wants to brag about the fact that he's bringing in a great player's son on their team. It earns them no kudos, and it guarantees allegations of nepotism/overrating from the peanut gallery.
Payton had to fight for what he's gotten and he deserves our applause. No one's saying he's going to be like his father, but he has carved out his own niche, and for that we should be taking inspiration not looking to smugly show how smart we are.

Kind of reminds me of the Nets using Bruce Brown as their roll man last year.

Steve knows when Gary's skills are maximized and puts him in spots to succeed.

Supposedly it was Meyers who was the main guy fighting for him. I believe it because Kerr always has always preferred veterans over “rookies” with his minutes.
