Thanks
That state of affairs substack newsletter is a good summary to feel where things are heading. There will be a wave sometime soon.
I want my booster shot. Getting impatient on the CDC approval for under 65 to get them. They approved children recently so hoping that decision is pending
If you just want the protection of a booster, you don't need CDC approval, just someone with a syringe full of vaccine who's willing to stick it in your arm.
I got J&J back in the beginning of March because that's what was available and at the time appointments were hard to get. Five months later I just made an appointment at a local pharmacy and got a full course of Moderna.
The advantage of waiting for approval is that you can officially add the booster to your vaccine card, since "fully vaccinated" status may at some point be redefined to include a booster shot.
I will probably get another booster after at least 6 months (I'm already in an eligible category), even if just to have it on my vaccine card that I've been boosted, since I had to get a separate card for my bootleg second vaccination. I have zero safety qualms about this, especially with the Moderna booster that is a lower dose than the initial course of shots.
OK, thanks for that. It is helpful and I will consider that. I plan on leaving the country by sometime next Summer so I could conceivably get a shot now and then before I leave to fulfill the full vaccination status. I do think approval for the booster is pending though so it may be a week or two away.
congrats on the leaving
