There were numerous guys better than Pippen and even more guys on about the same level. To say he was the 2nd best wing of his generation is just making stuff up.

I mean he was widely considered the an absolutely elite wing for a lot of his career. He was 1st or 2nd team all-NBA 5x (made 3rd another 2 times), and he finished top 10 in MVP voting 5 times. I'm not saying anything outlandish.

If MJ made Pippen, then why are you giving MJ all this credit for making a player who you say can easily be replaced? If Pip is nothing special, why praise MJ for "making" him that way?

Because it goes to the kind of player that Jordan was - he could take a player like Pippen and make him into a household name. He could have probably taken quite a few guys and done the same thing with them. The less "special" that Pippen was, the more credit that Jordan gets.

But you're acting as if Pippen was the 35th pick in the draft, instead of the 5th overall.

Why did MJ wait until his 4th year in the league to work on making a teammate a household name? You speculating that he could have done it for quite a few guys, yet for some reason he chose not to? Why is that?

Various reasons. There were some other teams that were better during Jordan's early career. By Jordan's fourth year, those teams were no longer in his way.
Most players get better as they get older. I mean did Lebron win anything right away?
Sometimes it takes a while for things to fall into place before people start winning.
Jordan didn't go out to make Pippen better. Jordan focused on his own game, making himself the best he could be and in that process, the guy who was there with him (Pippen) started looking (and of course playing) better as well.
Yes Pippen was a good player perhaps even borderline great player (yeah, I know I said mediocre originally, but that was just a bit of hyperbole), but there's no way I believe that other players couldn't have done the same thing Pippen did in the similar situation. Again, having watched the Bulls during the entire time of their dynasty, I never had that "wow" factor form Pippen.
If others disagree with me, no problem, but I will stick by my original post that Pippen was only as famous as he was because of Jordan.
Seeing Pippen come out now and attacking Jordan (and whoever else gets on his radar) just makes no sense to me.

He's just a jealous bitter old man. He saw the first dance before it came out and didn't have an issue. Dudes just talking to pump up sales for his book. No integrity smh.

Or maybe he's right. Just because alot of y'all grew up being told MJ was the greatest doesn't mean someone else's first hand account is wrong.

I don't even know if it's a question of whether he's right or wrong at this point, but rather the way he's doing it. I think there are better ways to get a point across rather than coming out and attacking the guy who made you famous in the first place (or saying dumb things about other sports that you obviously don't know anything about).
I've heard many rumors and stories about Jordan that don't put him in a good light. Undoubtedly many of those things are probably true. But Pippen just comes off as being a whiney little attention grabber for the way he is coming out attacking like this.
of course, if that is his goal to increase sales of his book - well, I guess he's accomplishing what he wants. Sacrifice self image to increase revenue.

I agree. And this is exactly how I feel about the Enes Kanter Lebron James situation.

Pippen has put on a a great tutorial on how to destroy your name and image without doing anything illegal.

The dude just comes off very petty and insecure whenever he talks.

Yes, that is what he believes. He literally said, “ There's no greatest in football. There's no greatest in basketball. There may be a greatest in golf. There may be a greatest in tennis and maybe some other individual sports that I can't think of right now.”
