yeah, Dame's great but he's also old. How many years will Lillard be an elite wing?

Herro is looking more like Booker every month and might be something different altogether. That's big going forward.
We will never learn that stop calling a player old.

Well, when weighing pros and cons in any trade a players age and projected future productivity must be considered.
Herro is beginning his career and Lillard is beginning the tail end.

it is what it is.
The most important is now. You do not sacrifice a potential championship because another player has more years on his career. We play games to win chips

The Lillard talk is pure fantasy talk. He'd obviously be a big fish to land for Miami, but Portland has no obligation to trade him as he is locked up till '24. Also any potential trade would likely have to include Bam, Herro, more core pieces plus probably 2 future first round picks. Superstars don't come free

cmon man, youre talking about trading herro v lillard and comparing that to Dragic/Precious v Lowry. Do I really need to explain that? Dragic looks like he's about to retire and Precious is barely an nba player. Plus TOR werent going to pay Lowry since they are not in contention. It was hardly a risky trade. Lowry has a couple of years in him at best. I wouldn't trade Herro for Lowry for sure.

I know what your saying, I was more addressing his contract and how he has underperformed.

A Herro trade would need additional players, but even then im not sure its the right move or that Portland would even listen.

You would have to give them Herro and then a big contract like Robinson, picks and maybe something else to match the cap number.

You would have to give them Lowry too. For a top 10 player it’s worth it.

At a minimum, I need Lillard to show the slump is just a slump. No difference than Harden.

We’ve approached Herros rookie season again where he’s drastically overrated by the fan base lol. Don’t get me wrong, I love him too. He’s a very good young player, you trade those if you can get a top 10 guy. Only PG better than Dame is Steph. Big 3 of Dame Jimmy and Bam is deadly and they compliment each other well. We would be the favorites.

I saw someone say they thought Herro was the best asset in the league when you consider contract and everything like guys like Ball, Ja, and Edwards aren’t out there. Let’s pump the brakes. He was abused by the bucks last night and that’s with no Giannis.

100% this. If the opportunity presents its self you jump all over it. Jimmy will understand and Bam will love it after the relationship they built this summer. Get to the finals or win and Jimmy will be happy.

We already know he loves the Heat lol. Maybe I’m biased because my top 3 favorite players in the league are Jimmy Dame and Bam.

Dame averaged 34-4-10 in the playoffs last year. 48% from 3 on 9 attempts, take out his 1 bad game and he averaged 40.

He averaged 29-4-8 last season, 40% from 3 on 11 attempts.

We’ve heard complaints about the new ball but I’d say the slump is mainly due to the abdominal injury he needs to let heal. He didn’t decline this much that fast, there’s no way. Especially with his ability to shoot.

Think about how much that injury has to effect you pulling up for a jump shot.

Ok I’m done now lol just wanted to add some stats and perspective to the topic.

I'm really interested in this team when they're healthy minus Bam. I like Bam but having to use a more traditional center will be interesting to see. Less rim protection out by the 3pt line meaning more rim protection near the rim, a center who has the size and want to make teams pay for switching smaller guys on him and of course something new this era, a center willing to shoot open 3s.

Now without a center like Bam means less switching overall and could lead to some open shots on picks and of course Miami will be missing an athletic big player who can get some easy ally-oops off pick and rolls and knock down midrange shots (when he's actually looking for them).

It's going to be very interesting to see the contrast of going from a max contract switchable yet undersized center to a vet minimum more traditional center with the ability to shoot 3s.

I said I was done then came across this. Speculation from the blazers side on a rebuild needed with new ownership and how it’s sketchy Dame is missing this time right before majority of players are eligible to be traded

I think Spo got so fed up with Whiteside not stepping up to defend the pick n pop he just said screw if we’re making Bam center and switching Non stop

From my understanding, before Bam was even drafted (2017) Miami was in love with his switchability. Looking at the lineup combos, I don't see much if any time with Bam and Whiteside on the court together, much like Bam and Precious last year. Miami wanting to change their ways happened when they were able to draft Bam.

What I believe is that with Bam this coaching staff saw a unique opportunity go to a full switching defense which in theory means you can go smaller at PF which "should" create more mismatches and possibly better shooting (which they've not really taken advantage of). When Precious was drafted, I didn't expect him to play with Bam and he didn't even though people wanted him to, he was to be the system's backup switchable center and now he's gone which possibly says something about the future of this current system.

With Dedmon doing so well last year for Miami at Center for a vet minimum player, maybe there is some doubt of going all switchable is the best move to build a team. They did let Precious go without having a backup locked up behind Bam. It's just going to be interesting to see how good this team can be with such a massive downgrade at center although the system possibly changes to make better use of a more traditional center.

Ok, so you named 3 guards, non of whom their team would trade for Dame. If Dame shows he bounced back you trade him sure, but Heat fans have long had a greener grass elsewhere outlook

Yea it’ll definitely be fun to see what they decide to do. If we want to go big I still like Turner due to his shot blocking, size, and ability to shoot but he’s not much of a rebounder. Maybe that changes in our system. Will be hard to get him. I really liked Noel coming off last season but he was quick to stay with the Knicks and has been injured majority of the season

What does the position have to do with it though? It doesn’t make sense for any of those teams to trade those guys for Dame and all those guys are far superior prospects to Herro. It does make sense for us to do it. The time is now for us, it isn’t for any of those other teams.

Adding a legit starting center probably means Miami is shipping Bam out. A lot of his value is the system he allows Miami to play so going from a switchable center to being a switchable PF with no 3pt shot drops his value a lot.
