Rank the order that you think Gupta would trade our players, as we continue to compete. Note: this is not value.

My order:

Layman - expiring, not getting playing time
McLaughlin - good contract, but not playing well, and Bolmaro will get his minutes
Okogie - useful and plays hard, but sometimes a DNP-CD. I don’t know if we re-sign him this summer
Nowell - potential and a good contract, but hasn’t developed much trade value
Prince - bigger matching contract, though negative. I’d rank him higher, but team seems to listen to him as a vet
Beasley - we need three point shooting. He hasn’t shot well yet, so we want him to improve to raise trade value.
Bolmaro - promising young player locked up
Naz Reid - he may be more valuable elsewhere with starter minutes, but we desperately need his size.
MIN 2022 1st, top 10 protections. No pick last year and uncertainty on our team now. Gupta analytics for scouting
Vanderbilt - heart of the defense, and his contract is great even if we trade for another big
McDaniels - tons of potential, though playing worse than last year.
Russell - great closer but poor individual season for shooting and turnovers. KAT pal. Few teams where he would fit.
Beverley - motivates the whole team. Coach 2, brings accountability others need. Loves it here.
KAT - too hard for MIN to attract superstar talent
Edwards - hoping he grows to be the face of the franchise, locked into rookie scale

Who goes up or down in your order for how much Gupta would be willing to trade him?

I agree with this list. I don't think these are equivalent to trade value tho.

dlo better get his act together...wolves can't win any games if he's gonna jack up 18-20 shots shooting below 40%..he's taking way too many 3s and long jumpers..defly need to attack the rim atleast 5x a game and post up a few times. orelse we trade his behind back to Lakers for Westbrook, to Nets for Irving, and to Knicks for Kemba..that's 3 good teams to trade with IMO by the deadline.

Three trades that I think would really improve the wolves this season and next.

2022 top 10 protected pick/Prince for Okongwu/Dieng
Okongwu a risk that may have a big payoff?

Reid/Nowell/Okogie for Achiuwa/Boucher/2nd Toronto upgrades center spot . Wolves bolster front court.

Beasley/Mclaughlin/Layman/2nd round pick?
for Nesmith/Richardson/Pritchard

DLO/Beverly/Pritchard
Ant/Richardson/Bolmaro
McDaniels/Nesmith/Bolmaro
Okongwu/Boucher/Vando
Towns/Dieng/Achiuwa

I like the Beasley trade outside of that tho, I'm not a huge fan.

Not a fan of taking such a big risk with our pick.

Reid trade isn't bad, but he's honestly just out of position currently, he plays better when playing with KAT. I would look for a starting center to put next KAT.

It is a risk but if Okongwu gets healthy( big if) I like him better than any player in the lottery next season to help defensively inside and rebound.

Pritchard fell of a cliff, Nesmith has not really shown much in 10 minutes per game, and Richardson is not exactly an improvement over Beasley. With Leo emerging and Wright playing very well in the G (not to mention Beverly coming back,) I think we are set at PG. Also, while generally I favor young player, we could use some kinds closer to KATs age or established vets like Beverly rather than adding more 2nd year players.

Better than taking on Beasley for another 2 years after this.

I love Kyrie, dude is arguably the best ball handler of all time. He's an amazing player. And his contributions to his community is amazing off court work. But the dude is soooooooo extra. He has some new drama every year. Last year he didn't want to talk to the media, the year before he pulled that **** with Boston, the year before that he cause locker room problems in Boston, the year before that he left LeBron. Like the dude is great but he's sooo much drama.

I'm good with just a consistent player who can shoot decently well and play defense. I've harped on and on about Dejounte Murray and I honestly think him and Derrick White would be great replacements for DLo and Beasley.

I agree, but one of DLo’s weaknesses over the years though has been an inability to attack the rim. His game is about smarts and not the athleticism it takes to finish underneath. I agree that he needs to take fewer long two-pointers, but he needs to vary between three pointers and those pull up 12 footers he’s normally good at.

Right now, at the end of games, our best option is DLo. KAT is a better player, but crunch time is built for ball handlers that can create for themselves or others. DLo may eventually be displaced in this role by Ant, since he can get to the rim, but right now, Russell is better.

This is all true, and I also thought about a DLo - Kyrie swap, since BRK is one of the few teams Russell has left on good terms. However, I don’t think Kyrie is going to get the vaccine, and as Domejandro pointed out to me, that would anger KAT, with all the family members he lost to Covid.

Okongwu is getting healthy and may already be down at ATL’s G-League team. When he’s healthy, I think they can afford to trade either Okongwu or Dieng, but not both. Unless we perhaps combined the first two trades, kept our 1st, and sent the Hawks the cheaper Achiuwa? This would also leave us minutes for Vanderbilt.

Vando is evolving into one of the more valuable defenders in the league. Add to that his offensive rebounding (decent defensive rebounder but elite offensive rebounder,) improved hands, (dropping less passes,) improved free throw shooting, and improved shooting at the rim, and you have a high value young player. Teams offer us firsts for him, not the other way around.

Not to mention Vando is dirt cheap. To me, he's almost more untradeable than Towns - due to Towns' next contract.

To me our biggest issue is that Beasley and Prince have nuked their trade value. They are our most expendable assets with JO, JMAC, and Layman being available for filler as needed. Nowell might have some value as well (as a sweetener,) but we have played him so few minutes it is mostly on spec. The only circumstance in which I would trade KAT is a pair deal with Dlo for 3 starters. I was also toying with the idea of KAT and Dlo to Indiana, Sabonis and lamb to Houston, Wood and Theis from rockets to us, and Turner, and Duarte from Pacers to us. Not sure Houston would do it, but for Turner, Wood, Theis, and Duarte I would be tempted to move KAT.

Return to Minnesota Timberwolves
