I think our decision will largely impacted by what position Barnes plays at the next level. Is he a PF? Is he a SF? Is he a PG/PF?

I think we can safely pencil Scottie in as being able to play anywhere 2 through 4.

Defensively, he has been guarding SF the majority of time, and more comfortable guarding on the perimeter, so I am not sure we should have him at the 4 defensively.

As for offense, he is not a 2.

sabonis is 25

I'm all in on Sabonis. He's a great contract, i think he can play centre. Great rebounder, great passer for a big, he is really good.

Trent, Boucher, flynn, banton and a future protected 1st, 4 future 2nd round picks.

HiJiNX wrote:As long as FVV/Siakam/OG/Barnes aren’t involved in any potential deals than I’m good. Each of those guys is as valuable or more valuable to a chip team than Turner or Sabonis. Especially Sabonis who is greatly overrated.

Turner is a rich man’s Birch who can defend the pnr way better than Birch can. He’s a good fit at the 5, but not for any of our top four guys.

It’s still really weird to me that y’all have watched the same last five games that I have and want to trade Siakam who appears to finally be “getting it” even if the conditioning and numbers aren’t there yet. The game is clearly slowing down for him, he’s learning how to integrate all the skills he works on, his D has been fabulous, he’s playing hard, playmaking and can also get you some offence pretty reliably. He’s also 6’9 and can guard 2/3/4. Not sure why you wanna get rid of him.

And yeah, you can say that those past five games are a small sample size, but what makes me excited is that Siakam is managing his emotions way better and as well all know his emotional lability has been the biggest issue with his performance. As an example, he started 1-6 last game. Then went 7/7 in the second Q, looking like a superstar. When has he ever done that? I’m willing to give him more time as he’s clearly maturing as a person and player.

I’m back on the Siakam stay bandwagon y’all!

Basically this. I’m not against trading Pascal though, I just think we should aim higher than Turner if we’re letting him go.

I like the idea of adding Turner. But best I think we should offer is around Precious, Goran, Flynn.

After this you gain more assets through the draft, devlop from within and you're one trade away from Kawhi.

You turn one of Barnes, FVV, OG, Pascal, Sabonis into a superstar and keep the other 4? That should be the move.

I'd offer Trent, Flynn, Boucher and 2 2nds (or if they prefer Goran's expiring to Boucher and Flynn) for Lavert and Turner.

Lavert could be a valuable bench player for us.

Dalek wrote:Myles Turner is an elite shotblocker and is 1st in block% and does pretty much hold up Indy's iffy defense who has Sabonis and Levert not doing too much on that end. Turner is also 9th in box-outs. So for a poor defensive rebounding team, he'd also help.

I'd do Siakam for Turner in a heartbeat because he adds something different to Toronto which we lack with Pascal. No offense to Siakam's contributions, but having a stretch five who defends like Turner is a perfect fit for the way Toronto wants to play. We don't have to play the overlapping forwards like we do at present.

The other consideration is another playoff team swooping in. Boston has always liked Turner and that would be a bigger headache for Toronto if they got better.

Toronto won a title in part because they had elite frontcourt defenders in Ibaka and Gasol. Turner offers a All-NBA first team defense type who will compliment FVV, OG and allows Scottie to extend himself a bit more.

Boston apparently turned down a Myles Turner, Doug McDermott and a 1st (!) for Gordon Hayward in a sign in trade. (Granted, it was Ainge at the time.)

If the price is that cheap fine but I dont see why IND does it

because they are trying to bottom out and get 2 expiring deals

They have a lot of expiring. As a team not a FA favourite destination, I think they are looking for long contracts.
I think they are looking for run and gun players to play similarly to Dallas.

Pass on Sabonis. Even though he is a better player than Turner, I think he doesn't fit our roster since we have Scottie and Pascal. Would love to get Myles Turner somehow. Get er done Masai

In terms of defense, I'm projecting him a year out when he gets a little stronger and should have no problem guarding 4s. With the way we switch he needs to be comfortable guarding everywhere...and with his young legs and desire I think he could be the guy we put on the other team's best scorer, regardless of position (aside from the few big stud Cs, off course).

On offense, if his 3pt shot is for real (and if it's a mirage for now I think it will be for real by next year) I don't see why we can't start him at the 2, really.

Anyone starting to lose faith in OG's health? Has this guy played a 75+ game season without injuries yet? Maybe, just maybe we consider some trade packages for him.

I would definitely consult Nate before getting anyone from the Pacers. Not say Nate wasn’t to blame in part but there are definitely players on the Pacers that are bad news.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….
