There have been 11 Detroit Pistons head coaches that have coached 200 or more games for the team.
Dwayne Casey is 85-166 for a winning percentage of .346
The next closest is Dave DeBusschere who in 1964-1967 as a player/coach had a winning percentage of .356(79-143)
So Dwayne Casey is the worst Detroit Pistons head coach for those who have coached 200 or more games.
For coaches that have coached at least 100 game for the Detroit Pistons, only Don Chaney has a worse record at .293 during 93-95(48-116).
That's how bad it's been.
I agree with what Liquorish said in the following post in that it goes beyond the win/loss record in how bad of a coach Casey is.
However, to spring board off your post a bit Casey's Pistons are 24-74 in the last 1.25 seasons. Granted the main objective last season wasn't to win games, but that performance sure as hell didn't warrant Weaver give Casey an undeserved/un-necessary contract extension either.
Casey got the extension because he properly tanked away towards the end of the season. It's not easy for a coach to not go out there and try to win every game but that is what he did. He put the young guys out there and let them make mistakes instead of trying to squeeze out every possible win last year.... and we go the #1 pick because of it which was great for us. Next year will likely be the real test for Casey as we shift to trying to win as many games as possible.
