His presence on the court gives his team mates so much space. He doesn't need to facilitate like Jokic does when he's on the court to be just as valuable.

On defense there's no debate. Not for Jokic.

Steph and KD are ahead because of team record. That's reality.

Jokic has been dominant and I could not disagree with the poster you quoted more, but as has been addressed in depth by a poster in this thread already, Jokic spends an inordinate amount of time with the Nuggets starters relative to the bench players. That's not on him, but it goes to explain why there is such a massive chasm relative to other stars who spend much more time playing with the bench as well. This stat is also incorrect as Aaron Gordon has a +22.8 Net (Monte Morris has a +21.8). It's a mistake by Malone to do this IMO. As far as pure +/- goes, Curry leads the league at +11.9 per game, Jokic is second at +9.0, Giannis third at +8.7, and Gobert/Mitchell are 4th/5th at +8.6.

Or we could make a case that he is always playing with backups because Nuggets starters are injured  Against Spars on Sunday Barton was also out so their only projected starter was AG. So the question is who is helping who more AG, Barton and Morris helping Jokic or other way around. We also saw those starters without Jokic. Jeff Green was bench player, was part of that bad bench. Now as a starter he is great. Why?
Anyway those 4 (Steph, Giannis, KD, Jokic) are having great seasons so there is no reason to question why are people delighted with the seasons they have.

Jokic is not even a top 5 player in the NBA.

KD, Giannis, Kawhi, Steph, LeBron are all easily better.

Yeah, the question is how many Nugget starters start on any other playoff team.
Gordon probably.
Barton possibly on some.
Morris? Nope
Green? Nope
Nuggets bench players would be 3rd stringers on most of the leagues teams.

Jokic is the best player by TPA. The best player in the best conference.

There are teammates of Curry/Giannis/KD in the top 40, Draymond, Pat Connaughton, Harden respectively. NONE for Jokic.

Jokic is clearly the best player this season so far, but I don't see him getting the award unless his team's record/standing improves, with worthy candidates having their teams on top of each conference.

I would like to think that the fourth spot in the West is not completely out of reach for the Nuggets (when he has played, they've won in a close place to what the Grizzlies are doing this season), and that would make him the favourite for the MVP, but the team is too depleted and most likely some other squad(s) will put their **** together. Would a 5th or 6th spot with a clearly winning record be enough? It's difficult to say; he would need that none of the other three main candidates go supernova, and still I don't think he would get enough consideration. All in all, the chain of events for him to repeat is quite unlikely IMO.

Yeah, three years ago, maybe.

Call me when Jokic wins a Championship. Something all of those guys have done as the best guy.

Weren't all of them, with the exception of Kawhi, ringless at 26? And Kawhi likely wasn't even the best player on the 2014 Spurs (that team probably had four second options and amazing team-play and chemistry).

But is Patty c in the top 40 because he's that good or because Giannis is that good. Patty c has played great but had a **** ton of wide open 3s

Kawhi might be marginally better (I don’t think so but I’ll humor you) but there’s a 1/3 chance he misses the entire season.

LeBron ain’t better anymore.

Curry not his best form but still leading the team to a great record with Wiggins being our 2nd best player.

28 pts 19 rebs 9 assists in the third quarter. Jokic and AG are the only starter caliber players for this game. The rest are backups, 3rd stringers and g league players.

Lebron has been a top 5 player basically his entire career. Maybe not his rookie year but from then on its hard to argue he wasnt a top 5 player.

I think the real question is, where does Tony Brothers rank in the DPOY voting at the moment? Jokic was well on his way to another 30/20/10 triple double while playing good defense, then bam the only man in the league that can slow down Jokic stepped in. He is the true Jokic stopper.
