Given that he still comes off the bench and his game is still confined to FSU's system, we still aren't able to see all that he can do on the court. We still would have no idea how good of a rebounder he is, or his ability in the post or mid range. I just figure shooting 35% solidifies him in the top 3 and bumps either one of Green or Mobley. Cade was so prominently featured at OSU and his stats were so good, that I just don't see him getting bumped from that top spot.
No way. He went 4th because Masai and co are great at projecting. He was a reach at 4 based on the majority of opinions, a clear tier below Cade, Green, Mobley and Suggs.
He was playing off the bench in at FSU. Green and Cade were killing the gleague and college as featured players. Better underlying numbers don't change things for Barnes, where all of a sudden he vaults above Cade and Green.
The 3 best players in a draft never go 1 - 3. It's great to have Masai making a pick at 4, gave him the opportunity to focus on ceiling. Even then he got ridiculed for passing on Suggs. I'm excited to see what he does this year with a teens pick.
He was a bit of a surprise at 4, nobody said it was a reach. Most people had him in the top 5.
First, Detroit seems to be dead set with Cunningham, and their next section was Green, still it was not a bad pick, and was widely expected.
Second, Houston was dead set with Green, and no top players want to workout for them.
Third, Cleveland didn't make a bad pick, otherwise, Mobley would be a good fit for our need.
As for being #4, I was defending Barnes in the draft thread, and I wasn't surprised with the pick. Orlando said they will take Barnes if he is available, therefore, going #4 wasn't even a surprise to me.
Meanwhile, I wouldn't write off Green this early. It was just Barnes is able to make his mid-range shot, he still has a lot for playing PG or SF, which is what he prefer to play.
