Anyone in to him?
Yes, he’d be great, but the Wizards love him.
And they just extended him. Thinking it'd have to be a significant overpay.

Big, athletic, relatively switchable, pretty good free throw shooter (also showed flashes of range albeit in a very small sample) in the g-league last year. Could end up being a name to watch.
There is speculation, I think reported by Lowe, that he'd be back well before the playoffs.WRau1 wrote:I don't know why the Bucks don't apply for a DPE on Lopez, unless they're waiting until the last possible day to file. If what I'm reading is correct, there isn't really any downside to it. If the independent doctors rule that Lopez is likely to be out through June, there is no rule saying that he has to stay out. If he recovers quickly he can still rejoin the team. Would be a pretty huge to have a onetime $6.6mil (limited)TPE/offer for a buyout guy.

You still apply for it and see, even if they think they can get him back in May.

In order to apply for the DPE, you need to know that the player will miss the rest of the season. It's "Disabled Player Exception," if they think there's a chance he's back before the end of the season, that doesn't make him disabled, thus there's nothing to apply for.

Teams do it all the time w/ guys that they know will return, just like the Bulls did with Pat Williams over a dislocated wrist. Another reason to do it now, even if the Bucks think Lopez will be back, is if there is a setback in his rehab. You apply now and if the deny it, you can reapply when (if) the setback happens. Can't reapply after the deadline if you didn't apply prior to it.

WRau1 is correct, this is how the procedure works.
However, the Bucks won't apply for this because money spent with the DPE counts against the tax, and ownership is pinching pennies
