He's averaging with his April numbers last year.

Shooting numbers are down for Curry but he is still contributing MVP level.
If he plays defense like this yr next yr he makes all defensive teams

Of course not.
Teams are just hard doubling him on and off ball, and with the rest of the team cooling down from three they’re unable to punish him.
Even if Klay Thompson isn't 100% of his old self, he will help take attention off Curry.

Now that's the difference between first and last place.

Curry's a couple of months from being 34, and an injury prone 34 at that. One of these "exposed" threads very soon is going to turn out to be right. For a small guard, it's definitely about time.
One thing to note though is that the reason his FG% is so low is because he's just become a complete one-dimensional 3pt chucker. Back in his MVP days 55% of hsi shots were threes, which was ridiculous. But now it's up to 65%, and he's not hitting them as well. And part of that is his inability to get clear and finish cleanly inside. Which itself could be age/quickness related. He looks awkward when not shooting a three, and the threes, even for Curry, begin to be giveups after a while.
Riiight….In “3pt chucker” Curry’s 2020-21 RS his TS% 65.5, 3P% 42.1 and eFG% 60.1.
His “awkward” 2021-22 RS shows TS% 59.1, 3P% 38.8 and eFG% 54.5.
His 3P% is at its lowest, but compare this season’s point guards as they are 34.9 for the average 3P%. He’s still shooting 3s more efficiently than the average PG Joe.
And on behalf of analysts, please get off your FG% jockstrap. It’s inaccurate for measuring true offense efficiency.
No one said that Curry wasn’t the greatest shooter anymore. No one said that other players are better shooters than him. It’s pretty pointless comparing his 3 point percentage to other players when he’s already the unanimous GOAT shooter.

What a pointless statement.Every Finals team had elite role players[/quote]

So I'm watching the Mavs game and I notice, as usual, curry isn't trusted being on the point guard. Of course they weren't going to put him on Luka either.
They actually had him on Finney-Smith. The least dangerous guy on the court, AS USUAL.
So yea, I get why the stats may point to him being decent, but it's manipulative

Re: Stephen Curry is probably on a decline in his career
It will get back up to 40-41 % which only takes a few hot games. He's basically at 39%
But yes he will never reach his 45% mark. Not bc of decline but teams play him differently now they have years to figure out Kerr's system, no Klay, no Draymond spacing the floor at 40% shooting. Also Steph is taking more 3s with worse shot selection.

There are virtually no major stars in the history of the NBA who played at a career peak at age 33 or later. Only one I can find is Karl Malone (career high Box +/-, Win Shares, Win Shares/48, and PER at 33). Even Jordan's numbers were falling off slightly by 33.

Yeah he hasn't looked good lately. But he'll probably turn it around. Crazy he's 33 thought he was a little younger. Getting up there with age. With those ankles it's only going to get harder.

Probably not. Did you miss his post ASB play last season (best player in the NBA), or his start to the season this year (top 2 in the NBA)? The only player with clearly better advanced stats even after this slump is Jokic.
Quite the post prime if so.
He’s in a shooting slump. I guarantee he turns it up and in a big way sooner than later. He’s missing shots he drills in his sleep.

Advanced *STAT* you mean
RAPTOR WAR is in it's own little world saying Curry is having a better season than the others. And Jokic who is on top of lots of them is #1 in WAR on the back of his world-beating defense, so gonna take it with a grain of salt

Catch up.

He's just out of rhythm, which isn't really due to any physical decline, it just happens from time to time when you take as many 3s as he does.

Re: Stephen Curry is probably on a decline in his career
I think people just gotta accept that Steph will always live and die by his three-ball — and he shoots so well that that's usually fine. His midrange percentages and shots at the rim are way down . I think this is more due to a cyclical thing than anything else.

My response was to the critic who said “the reason his FG% is so low is because he's just become a complete one-dimensional 3pt chucker.” Chuckers are high volume, lower than average shooters. Curry is not.
