they're still lottery-focused. randle is a durable player with an all-star berth under his belt, could put a few more butts in seats. perfect tank commander

Taking on a more expensive player of the same age who isnt as talented as the one they got isnt something a lottery focused team does. They already got their big ticket player so they dont even need randle for that

grant is less of a "star" than randle. obviously we'd have to give them something for taking randle's contract on, but lottery teams are the ones who'll take those contracts for relevant benefits

Randle is really a tweener.

He doesn't really have a position, or a role he can fit into where he can be efficient.

What is he really?

Is he a finisher? No.
Is he a jumpshooter? No.
Is he a post-up player? No.
Is he an efficient ISO player? No.
Is he a playmaker? Kind of, when people double him, but people don't double him as much anymore.

He's kind of stuck in no man's land.

LA has a power forward, that being said I'd take Westbricks almost expiring back and send Kembas corpse to match salary (maybe we'd have to send Burks also, Westbrick makes a ****).

Portland has Covington who's a better fit if Randle can't shoot anymore. I think we're in matching salary hell and they'd have to give up CJ to get Randle. Or maybe a mix of Covington and scrubs would work.

Pistons don't need another Jeremi Grant and they're tanking.

Philly could sure use 40% from 3 Randle. Standing around and playing off Embiid would be good for him if he can make stand still jumpers. Problem is Ben Simmons is the worst contract in basketball and they need all the other salaries to play for them.

Celtics makes a bunch of sense. We could eat Horfords turd and take some more dumpster salary to get Boston under the tax.

Wizards could send us Bertans corpse and a prospect, I'd be happy with that deal. Randles deal is negative but Bertans is really bad also.

Ignoring that the lakers dont need randle, you want to trade randle for an even more ball hungry player who is rapidly declining?

The genie is out the bottle now, hard to go back to being a rollman when a coach has let you live out your LeBron dreams. Look at how much he's pouting now, imagine what that will look like when he's no longer the 1 or 2 option.

I don't disagree but reality is called reality because it's real. We paid a $10 million a year backup PF/C like a franchise guy and built a marketing campaign around fluke 40% 3 point shooting in empty arenas against the Milwuakee Flying Thannises. Who could have predicted this? besides me I mean, who predicted all of this.

I predicted it as well, I was one of the few members of a small village located in the Appalachians known as "RandleIsTrash"

Saddiq Bey is playing well @ the 4 since Grant went out, which is why there's talk of moving Grant to begin with. They aren't going to bring in another Grant to get in the way of Bey when they can just keep the one they have.

I don’t understand the Randle criticism today. He did exactly what people on this board wanted him to do. He didn’t have it so he deferred to his teammates, got rebounds and moved the ball. Can the fans not nitpick his game and live or die on every shot Randle takes? Like enough is enough. Why is it so hard to root for every player on this team? There always has to be a scapegoat for why we are playing bad.

You can feel the amount of pressure every time Randle gets the ball, it’s like the fanbase is waiting on him to f*ck up so they can boo. No other player in the league is getting that kind of energy from their home fans. It’s no wonder Randle is playing reserved lately. Let’s just keep it moving and head to the next game, all this drama is distracting.

No other fanbase is getting this kind of energy "best" player. Julius sloppy play, poor body language and lack of effort this season put him in this position...not the fans.

He’s literally playing exactly the same as last year except he is missing shots. His defense has actually been better lately, (held his matchup to 4 points tonight) but no one cares because he is bricking everything.

Turnovers suck, but he isn’t even top 10 in turnovers in the league and he is also leading our team in assists.

Body language is whatever. Fans try to play arm chair psychiatrist, but yes it is obvious Randle is frustrated about the season and the way he is playing.

Other players have been terrible too. Tatum, Beal, Fox, etc. are all having terrible seasons, but the fanbase isn’t singling those players out and booing them or celebrating when they have Covid.

Again I’m not even a huge Randle fan, but as a human being, it must be a slap in the face for Randle to have the fanbase turn on him so quickly after the way he played last year. (Especially since they were just as bad to him his first year in NY and had “apologized” for the way they treated him)

Your argument has a thousssssand million holes bro.... Let's start.

- His defense is not even close to last seasons level. Not even close. Not sure exactly what you're watching

- LOL u say hes not top 10 in TO's.. . he's tied for 10th with Towns at 3.5

- His assists per game mean don't mean that much as he handles the ball all game long, dominates the ball. He's averaging 4.8 in 35.5 mpg...

- body language is w.e? Really? He doesnt hustle on defense, he makes the worst passes in the world, can you name the last game he doesn't have a screw face every time the camera pans to him? The guy let's thw refs get to him all game long every single game and cleary effects the way he plays.

He doesn't show support to his teammates during games idk how he is off the court seems like a great guy but that's irrelevant. We're a much better team with RJ running the show. We'd be lucky if someone was willing to trade for him

Zach Randolph could play like Zeebo in Memphis because his center was Marc Gasol who was money from 16 feet at the top of the free throw line.

Having Randle pound it in the post for 10 seconds with Mitch 10 inches from his colon won't work at all.

Z-Bo was also a real post-up player.

Prime Z-Bo could abuse people in the post.

Randle, we don't know what he really is. He can do a lot of things, all of them inefficiently.

Randle’s ball control is lousy. He’s a strip waiting to happen in the post. Z-Bo had glue hands. They both have junk in the trunk, but Randle leans in with his shoulders while holding the ball up in the air. He’s never learned how to post and protect the ball.

I don't know if he's ideal as a finisher with his lack of length and athleticism.

He's shooting 62.7% in the restricted area. It's quite bad for a player his size/position.

For reference, Giannis is at 77.1%. LeBron 76.5%. Durant 74.0%. Davis 73.9%.

So you have to wonder if he's such an asset if you're using him as a finisher, since he's involved in the play. The outcome is subpar as well.

Bottom line is I don't see any role where Randle can excel (besides as a 6th man).

best summary  and why i cringe when people call him our most "talented" player. like, yeah, i guess, technically, i see how you think that

He is though. And I'm not a Randle fan. Could RJ pass him by? Sure. I'm talking now.

Really, what it comes down to is:
How far can Randle take you where he's Bootleg LeBron. Probably not that far.
Can Randle be effective in a lesser role, doing his variety of things, but not as the clear #1 guy

With additional questions being: Is Randle pouting because he's not the #1, does he have nagging injuries or, because Randle is merely good, and not great, is he still adjusting to the also not great complimentary players brought in? And will he ever adjust correctly and well.

If the answer to the last question is no, either due to attitude or ability, then he has to go. Half the season we might think answers the question, but maybe Randle and coaching staff get it together over the remainder of the season.

It's the Knicks, so probably not.

Randle would be fine as a finisher when he is already going downhill either because he dribbled past his man or is fed the ball on the way in. Anything else is dubious

If we’re stuck with him, turn him into a project and re-educate him to play off the ball and to either shoot or move the ball in 3 seconds or less. The dribble for 10 seconds and shoot guy is being owned by the league and needs to be rebooted

Rachel Nicols would've had a field day with Knicks fans booing Randle.

Let's just say I'm glad she's no longer on ESPN, especially after her fake apology.

Return to New York Knicks
