Zach Randolph could play like Zeebo in Memphis because his center was Marc Gasol who was money from 16 feet at the top of the free throw line.
Having Randle pound it in the post for 10 seconds with Mitch 10 inches from his colon won't work at all.
Z-Bo was also a real post-up player.
Prime Z-Bo could abuse people in the post.
Randle, we don't know what he really is.
He can do a lot of things, all of them inefficiently.

and why i cringe when people call him our most "talented" player. like, yeah, i guess, technically, i see how you think that
He is though. And I'm not a Randle fan. Could RJ pass him by? Sure. I'm talking now.
Really, what it comes down to is:
How far can Randle take you where he's Bootleg LeBron. Probably not that far.
Can Randle be effective in a lesser role, doing his variety of things, but not as the clear #1 guy
With additional questions being: Is Randle pouting because he's not the #1, does he have nagging injuries or, because Randle is merely good, and not great, is he still adjusting to the also not great complimentary players brought in? And will he ever adjust correctly and well.
If the answer to the last question is no, either due to attitude or ability, then he has to go. Half the season we might think answers the question, but maybe Randle and coaching staff get it together over the remainder of the season.
It's the Knicks, so probably not.
