Hmm.

I’ll grant that there’s not a lot to talk about here. But even with limited topics I didn’t think reliving the Drummond years and hashing that out again would make the cut.

To each their own though.

Your negative opinion of me is pretty baked in, so I’m not shocked you’d take the most negative possible interpretation of the post.

I will freely admit I'm just bored and trolling, but not in a mean spirited way. More of a devils advocate. *shrug* There truly isn't much else to talk about. The Grant thing has been beaten to death. What else is there?

Yeah, that was more the spirit of my post.

We’re an 11-35 team who’s eyes are already transfixed multiple years into the future. There isn’t a ton to talk about in terms of the here and now. It was more of a resigned shrug and a “ oh hey, I guess we’re talking about this now” sort of deal.

That was always his problem. He forces things. Now if he played within himself, would he be exactly what we needed? Yes, but I haven’t seen that Drummond since 2016. Nurkic is the type of player we needed last night.

It may be a bit murkier than that. Can we definitely quantify how much of that was Drummond, vs. how much was scheme? Because I recall a pretty concerted effort on the part of the Pistons to try and establish him. I mean, we can nitpick his decision making and ability to actually deliver, but I don't think it's entirely fair to just say he "wanted more touches". What are you actually basing that on? You just admitted that in a different situation he was playing a different role, so I guess I'm unclear on why you are locked onto this notion other than it's just popular to bash the guy and blame him for all our problems.

I’m pretty sure he was asking for a bigger role while he was on the Lakers. I distinctly remember him tweeting about it…but I’m also too lazy to source myself.

In other ideas…do we win this game with prime Moose?

I'm not sure how that is relevant either way. Do we have a member of either the Pistons coaching staff or front office stating that they would like Dre to have a smaller role? Shoot less? Clearly we moved on at the end but he was a huge focus for the team. We marketed around the guy and clearly tried to make him a threat. Which makes sense; it would have been to our benefit if he actually developed. But when that didn't happen we pulled the plug. Again, as we should have.

With Stuckey at the helm attacking the rim and wearing their guards down by barreling into them for charging fouls, I think we would have easily won

What if we had Terry Mills and Jason Maxiell?

Bob Lanier would have made Jokic his Kent Benson before halftime.

Shoot, might as well go all in on hypotheticals. Bring in KCP and Reggie and we win this game

Hell, having any starter level center on the market would've made a night and day difference in this game, not just Drummond. If anyone kept tabs on him around the league, he's actually pretty good as a backup big. Which is probably all he ever meant to be we were just the bad front office that gave him that extension and the green light play outside of his role

Stanley Johnson clearly would've turned the tide.

The Lakers clearly think he can.

I’m happy for him. Stanley wasn’t a bad dude here. He was just a bad player.

Or Mitchell instead of Kennard, or if we still had Kennard, maybe he would score 7 points in 19 seconds and we would win this game.

Not without Cade, who we wouldn't have had if we drafted Booker.
