It was the same excuses with JV and Demar saying they need more experience, until they Masai realized the team just isn't working.
Those Demar and JV teams were also better than this team, they were top 4 team in the East every year.
Talent matters as well, Siakam and FVV put up numbers but it just isn't the same as the other young guys in the conference, FVV and Siakam have to
EARN it. They don't have scoring ability to put up 40+ on any given night and that **** matters big picture wise.
Those Lowry/Demar teams were able to get away with it become consistently had some of the best benches in the nba, while Siakam/FVV have to deal with the worst bench in the NBA.
Which young guys are you referring to? Obviously you got Giannis, Trae. But Tatum is the next young guy in the conference and his numbers are incredibly inefficient. Same efficiency as Fred this year. Tatum has actually been a LESS efficient scorer than Pascal during his career. Then the next young guy from our conference is Jaylen Brown then.... Fred VanVleet and Pascal Siakam.
Talent means nothing if there are no results. Teams don't care about how a guy looks out there. They care about what he produces.
And what results have Siakam and FVV achieved without Lowry ?
Garland/Mobley/Allen core will end up top 5 in the east and they’re all younger than Siakam and FVV ? Garland isn’t even in year 4 yet.
We’ve seen Tatum/Brown eliminate arguably the 2nd best Raptors team of the last decade by themselves at like age 22 for Tatum.
Zack Lavine is a top 5 SG, that core with the bulls isn’t going anywhere.
Lamelo and that core isn’t going anywhere either.
Talent matters, having the best player on the court at all times matters.
I believe we can compete for a 5-8th seed with this core but we have a short window with this core, we aren’t keeping both FVV or GTJ after next year.
