It's an old one and most have probably heard it but so apt for this type of case:

A fellow was stuck on his rooftop in a flood. He was praying to God for help.

Soon a man in a rowboat came by and the fellow shouted to the man on the roof, “Jump in, I can save you.”

The stranded fellow shouted back, “No, it’s OK, I’m praying to God and he is going to save me.”

So the rowboat went on.

Then a motorboat came by. “The fellow in the motorboat shouted, “Jump in, I can save you.”

To this the stranded man said, “No thanks, I’m praying to God and he is going to save me. I have faith.”

So the motorboat went on.

Then a helicopter came by and the pilot shouted down, “Grab this rope and I will lift you to safety.”

So the helicopter reluctantly flew away.

Soon the water rose above the rooftop and the man drowned. He went to Heaven. He finally got his chance to discuss this whole situation with God, at which point he exclaimed, “I had faith in you but you didn’t save me, you let me drown. I don’t understand why!”

To this God replied, “I sent you a rowboat and a motorboat and a helicopter, what more did you expect?”

It’s less about dunking on these guys and more of a cautionary tale about misinformation. A lot of people buy into this garbage and the outcome can lead to death. Plain and simple, people are killing themselves over something stupid. And they’re taking down other people with them.

This is why I'm against removing everyone with dangerous ideas from social media platforms, especially if they are domain experts. If someone has a dangerous idea, it is better to pull that idea into a spot light and defeat it with science / logic etc. The people you hope to convince will see this a dunking on a dead guy and the people who see it as a cautionary tale are already vaxxed.

The psychology of changing someone’s mind require a high level of emotional intelligence and logical thinking. When you come out the gate telling people they are incorrect about something they believe, it can come off as insulting and condescending, which often results in the other person losing interest in engaging with you.

We are driving the vaccine hesitant to become anti-vax. It's basically the same mechanism that got Trump elected. Shouting at people and calling them stupid obviously will fail.

The problem with most of the disinfo covidiots removed from platforms is not that they're discussing ideas. It's that instead of engaging in rational or logical discussion, they are trying only to subvert rational process and attempting to influence others to do things that are injurious or dangerous. Those who are thinking, let me just get this thing so I can be done with it, are not looking at the big picture. Long Covid is very much a real thing for many of those infected by the virus and the reality is that the experts are still learning about it every day and will continue to do so for a long time to come. There's so much we don't know.

Locally, Covid is taking a toll on health care staffing, hundreds are having to isolate after being infected by the virus. Also, there are some who are outright leaving the field and it's creating staffing shortages for our hospitals. It's a double whammy.

They will continue to fck over the rest of us in their role as willing hosts to a contagion, because they are selfish in their delusional world full of false conspiracies. Ten years ago they were making Sci-Fi movies about these people turning into zombies and now we're already there.

Their "principles" are moronic and have nothing to do with "freedom". These morons got vaccinated as kids and now all of sudden, oooh, vaccines are bad, don't touch me! Meanwhile, the majority of those aholes have no problem with overturning Roe vs. Wade because all human life is precious. They won't fight to protect a women's right to choose, but they'll die to not be pricked by a needle. Stupid and hypocritical.
