It's an old one and most have probably heard it but so apt for this type of case:

A fellow was stuck on his rooftop in a flood. He was praying to God for help.

Soon a man in a rowboat came by and the fellow shouted to the man on the roof, “Jump in, I can save you.”

The stranded fellow shouted back, “No, it’s OK, I’m praying to God and he is going to save me.”

So the rowboat went on.

Then a motorboat came by. “The fellow in the motorboat shouted, “Jump in, I can save you.”

To this the stranded man said, “No thanks, I’m praying to God and he is going to save me. I have faith.”

So the motorboat went on.

Then a helicopter came by and the pilot shouted down, “Grab this rope and I will lift you to safety.”

To this the stranded man again replied, “No thanks, I’m praying to God and he is going to save me. I have faith.”

So the helicopter reluctantly flew away.

Soon the water rose above the rooftop and the man drowned. He went to Heaven. He finally got his chance to discuss this whole situation with God, at which point he exclaimed, “I had faith in you but you didn’t save me, you let me drown. I don’t understand why!”

To this God replied, “I sent you a rowboat and a motorboat and a helicopter, what more did you expect?”

J

I've heard this a number of times starting in my childhood, but it's even better to hear this again now.

My mom would put it more succinctly. She scream at me, “God gave you a brain. Use it!”

Besides Covid deniers who died, the award has gone to, among others (videos are NSFW and horrifying):

— The mother of a young child who died being swept out of a car while filming herself rubbing her naked breasts

— A motorcyclist who crashed at high speed after a routine traffic stop, even though police were not in pursuit

— A man walking down the train tracks with his back to the oncoming train, ignoring its approach

— A driver who purposefully drove his vehicle into a river

— A mother of two who was swept away by the current after jumping through a hole in the ice of a frozen river — doing all this in front of her two kids

So you get the idea — putting Covidiots into this category? PRICELESS!

Spoiler:
Why do I say this? Because they don't just kill theselves needlessly — they take vulnerable, innocent people with them!

The FBI agent whose loaded firearm fell out while he was dancing drunk is a banger also.

It’s less about dunking on these guys and more of a cautionary tale about misinformation. A lot of people buy into this garbage and the outcome can lead to death. Plain and simple, people are killing themselves over something stupid. And they’re taking down other people with them.

This is why I'm against removing everyone with dangerous ideas from social media platforms, especially if they are domain experts. If someone has a dangerous idea, it is better to pull that idea into a spot light and defeat it with science / logic etc. The people you hope to convince will see this a dunking on a dead guy and the people who see it as a cautionary tale are already vaxxed.

The psychology of changing someone’s mind require a high level of emotional intelligence and logical thinking. When you come out the gate telling people they are incorrect about something they believe, it can come off as insulting and condescending, which often results in the other person losing interest in engaging with you.

We are driving the vaccine hesitant to become anti-vax. It's basically the same mechanism that got Trump elected. Shouting at people and calling them stupid obviously will fail.

Pointing out the irony to whom?

A cop who served his community for over two decades lost his job because he wouldn't get vaccinated. I can recognized that his actions likely killed him and also have compassion for a man willing to stick to his principles.

I can have compassion for people needlessly dying because of their bad choices, but I hardly consider it compassion for them because of their principles. They didn't have to die. Their principles were based on ignorance. I don't respect that, though I can still feel sorry for them. Empathy is not contingent on being of like minds.

Agreed, and when a guy not only kills himself from ignorance and stupidity, but also endangers or kills others in the process, it's less likely we need to feel empathy, but instead need to use this as an example of bad behavior to avoid. Especially when said idiot who endangers others is a public servant!

The problem with most of the disinfo covidiots removed from platforms is not that they're discussing ideas. It's that instead of engaging in rational or logical discussion, they are trying only to subvert rational process and attempting to influence others to do things that are injurious or dangerous. There is no protection for this kind of behavior.

Great movie!

I was sick at home, nothing to do, turned on the TV, must have seen it a few times over the years. Hated it, but it was better than daytime TV back then.

Long COVID is a thing.

The Minister of Finland said earlier this month that it can be the country's largest chronic disease.

And now this:

Long Loongman is suing Geni Talwarts Broadcasting for removing him from their platform. He is widely known for his famous “Long Loongman Technique,” claiming that men can improve their genital health by immersing their dicks in boiling water.

Despite the public outcry from the medical establishment and the large numbers of dickless men, he maintains he has the right to be heard. “The First Amendment requires them to present both sides of the issue,” Long Loongman said.

“I’m the expert on this technique and with the large number of cases of dickless men, I’m the only Long Loongman.”

Authorities remain baffled by his popularity, but there are now rumors that former President Donald T Rump and his former lawyer, Rudy Ghouliani, are also practitioners.

Those who are thinking, let me just get this thing so I can be done with it, are not looking at the big picture. Long Covid is very much a real thing for many of those infected by the virus and the reality is that the experts are still learning about it every day and will continue to do so for a long time to come. There's so much we don't know.

Locally, Covid is taking a toll on health care staffing, hundreds are having to isolate after being infected by the virus. Also, there are some who are outright leaving the field and it's creating staffing shortages for our hospitals. It's a double whammy.

So you want to protect a person's right to be stupid in public because you want their arguments to be stand or fall on their own intellectual merits yet you say out of the other side of your mouth that we shouldn't insult the intelligence of stupid people who go out of their way to spread disinformation and lies.

Pick an argument and show some consistency please.

And this assertion that pissing off stupid people is what elected Trump, therefore we should play nice is really obnoxious. Trumpism thrives on intimidation tactics. Maybe you missed January 6th, but that was domestic terrorism promoted by a sitting POTUS. And you want us to be nice to them so we don't rile up stupid people?

NO, you're dead wrong. We should speak up louder, because bullies win when you let them have their way. That applies to covid disnformation spreaders as well. The DOJ had to create a task force to address these bastards showing up at school board meetings and acting out violently in opposition to mask and vaccination policies. And you know how those people became bullies? By being lied to by creeps on Fox News, Joe Rogan and Twitter until they were banned.

Because stupid people think vaccines are meant to track their whereabouts or the technology of mRNA is dangerous they are impervious to logic and will continue to die because of their ignorance. They will perpetuate the pandemic by not getting vaxxed. They will continue to fck over the rest of us in their role as willing hosts to a contagion, because they are selfish in their delusional world full of false conspiracies. Ten years ago they were making Sci-Fi movies about these people turning into zombies and now we're already there.

Their "principles" are moronic and have nothing to do with "freedom". These morons got vaccinated as kids and now all of sudden, oooh, vaccines are bad, don't touch me! Meanwhile, the majority of those aholes have no problem with overturning Roe vs. Wade because all human life is precious. They won't fight to protect a women's right to choose, but they'll die to not be pricked by a needle. Stupid and hypocritical. Go live in the woods and eat bark and berries if you want your freedom from vaccines that bad.

So, yeah, these people who make a public display of their dumb anti-vaxx positions and then die from covid should be held up as poster children of ignorance. And the irony is that is probably the only thing that will convince other dummies to get vaxxed.

Robert Malone is a douchebag. Should I be nice and polite about that too?

Of course, the point is that giving both sides a voice can a crazy idea. I think you may find this video highly enjoyable. Presenting the Long Loongman video (it is one of about 50, but I still can't stop laughing).
