So long way of saying there’s no problems with the roster.
There is no problem with the roster when mostly healthy. And I mean, we have evidence of this. Before KD got hurt we were in 1st. When the Big 3 all played together we were 2-0 with a 30 point blowout of the Bulls. past 2 years with the big 3 we are 18-6 including 5-1 in the playoffs and we beat the Bucks by literally 50 points at home before Kyrie went down.Well when you know the FO WONT pay to improve nor move on from the guys they like I guess you justify. That’s good fan work. I just want to win. I think we have the makings of a dynasty up top and the only thing holding us back is having a terrible supporting cast that don’t fulfill any roles such as defense, rebounding nor a team of spacing on the bench.
We have more spacing then anyone in the league when healthy. We can bring arguably the 2 best spot up shooters in the NBA off the bench (Harris/Mills) when healthy. How is that not having spacing on the bench? We have Bembry, Johnson, and Claxton. thats 1 guy at each level as a role defender. We have LMA/Sharpe as guys who can rebound.
using the TPE on some role shooter or rebounder will provide next to nothing while costing tens of millions in taxes.
We need KD back. If Joe is going to be out another couple months then yeah we probably need a forbes type to hold us over. We can do that at the deadline or in the buyout.
but get out of here if you want to tell me:
Harden | Kyrie | Edwards | KD | Claxton
Mills | Harris | Bembry | Johnson | LMA
is not a top 2 contender with elite shooting and spacing and top 10 defense.
I don’t care if we blew out the Bucks. Adjustments happen and before Kyrie was Zaza’d they clearly were in control.
I don’t care we were 1st in the conference when we were clearly not the best team in the league. Warriors didn’t have Klay like we didn’t have Kyrie.
LMA isn’t a good rebounder and isn’t a rim protector relying on him for that role is just foolish. Sharpe is a rookie who knows what will happen. Same with Kessler.
Very very interesting. Joe is a bench player in your dream scenario. That’s so odd. I mean it’s obvious Kessler fulfills the role needed for this team. Still core member for the foreseeable future. Not even a starter. Is he closer? That role is no longer fulfilled in the crunch. Is our last core member even a 30mpg player? Certainly not 36mpg. It has nothing to do with Joe it’s just he doesn’t fulfill the role what’s needed for being a core member with this 3.
Also interesting is Bruce and Carter(understandable) aren’t in this. Let alone Blake. Paul obviously gone. Johnson’s and Bembry(who I like and think will get significant time if there’s no moves made) made it to the optimal rotation. Bruce is out along with Blake and Carter. After Joe and Patty those are our meatiest contracts. Bruce and Carter are 8+ million. Are we just wasting that on the bench? I mean we should certainly do something with it. If Kessler is in foul trouble that role completely vanished from our team who already, even in optimal scenarios, relies on Nic and LMA for rim protection, post defense and rebounding. Also no mention of Cam and Sharpe in the optimal lineup. So really are luxury pieces even to you.
Idk to me it’s pretty simple.
Joe moves for a defensive catalyst player who fits and makes sense to be a 36mpg player like his contract warrants(any other team Joe will be fine. Whatever position is fine. But a core member who starts and finish. We have a 6th man in Patty. A 7th in LMA.
Move Carter & Bruce for the best 3&D wing or big you can.
Use the TPE’s to bring in 3&D wings or bigs moving Bembry/Johnson back to the end of bench/in case of emergency(rest, COVID, injury) spot.
I said 3&D wing or big a lot. A lot of OR’s there. That’s because Joe has to be a starter/closer player. A real 36mpg guy. He has to lock up 4 out of the 5 starters spots on this team. He just doesn’t. Great player. Seem like a nice guy. He however just doesn’t fulfill the role needed next to Harden-Kyrie-Durant as a core member. As a role player? Obviously. Look at Patty thrive. As the fourth highest contract. Not at all.
If they made the necessary decision the domino effect of what/who would be needed would streamline this and future teams.
