Re: Future Draft Games
We could do a similar game as the current one at some point, with 70 FGAs or something except they can have played for a franchise at any point in their career

Dr Positivity wrote:Pairs draft, but you draft separately. You are randomly matched with another player, and your draft positions are put next to each other. When the draft is over the best teams are ranked, and either they're the winner or whichever pair has the best combined rankings make the finals and then play each other. So you have to balance making your own team as good as possible vs letting players who fit your partner fall to them.
Or we could make it so pairs can exchange players with each other at the end of the draft. Actually it might be more interesting to do it that way but with players at opposite ends of the draft order.
We could do this as single players. Draft as normal, but at the end you must have four pairs of teammates.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

So they do the draft and then find someone else who's players match their needs and agree to team up/trade?
I prefer the "pairs" being announced before the draft strategy and fairness wise
Either way I don't think we have enough players for this right now

Re: Future Draft Games
The Small City game looks like the best idea with this depleted pool of drafters.

No team ups or trading. It's a normal eight round draft, but everyone goes in knowing they have to end up with four pairs of teammates. For example, you could pick Wade in the second round and Bosh in the fifth to create one of your four pairs.

I feel like we must have done that before, but I guess it wouldn't be the end of the world to do it again

We could also do one with 2 players from four countries of your choice at some point, maybe even picking them as pairs

I've had this idea in my head for a while. Not sure the depth is there though - the preps-to-pros pool is pretty shallow, while a number of international players would be ineligible.

Is this it for bonafide first rounders?
Giannis
Dirk
Kobe
LeBron
Jokic
Garnett
The folks at the bottom could pair up two of Moses, TMac, Dwight, and others I'm forgetting.
It is thin but it also pulls in players we don't normally see. I do like the concept.

Feels like the pool would just be a stripped-down version of the current one.
My vote would still be for the small market game with the cities proposed by Dr P.

I agree, very similar to the previous pool [mostly international players].

We did that a few years ago
Maybe a draft where 1x MVP winners are available, multi times are not would be interesting

Re: Future Draft Games
Here's an idea:
We can draft up to 2 players from each of the following regions for a total of 8 players per team.
- USA
- The Americas excluding the USA
- Europe
- Africa
- Asia and Oceania (Russia and Turkey could count as either asian or european depending on what fits your strategy)
Nationality is determined by wikipedia/whichever site you guys want.

This could work as a pairs draft, i.e. two picks at a time.
For the USA I'd add another restriction like same birth state
