They're literally the only playmakers on this team and we won a lot with them as our primary playmakers last year.
What an idiotic take
Last year was fluky and I'm come around to the fact that though we were on a 48 win pace in an 82 game season, the combination of Rose and the team firing on every single cylinder and some luck probably pumped into about 6 wins about who it really was. A .500 team.
I don't think Wally is all wrong here. I mean, Randle and RJ CAN playmake. But I dont' think too many teams want to really rely on them to be the primary playmakers. It's one of the reasons why the Rose trade made the Knicks so much better. It put Randle and RJ into part time playmaking category.
I think that's what he was getting out. It's just that Wally is always hyperbolic because he's a big doofus.
Knicks need a PG. One who is young enough that they can play 30 mpg every game and not be hurt.
They could even probably get away with Fournier being a sieve on defense with just that move, which we know isn't happening.
Nobody wants a PG here more than me. Remember what I said I would pay for Haliburton? Obscene amount b/c it’s been that long and if I’m paying, I’m paying a lot for the best product.
I personally think we’re at our best (as currently constructed) when RJ & Randle run the offense, not these bum ass vets trying to play make. Problem is, they ice out RJ who’s proven he’s a good and willing passer and that Randle this year has taken it upon himself to pretend he’s Melo, shooting all the damn time in crunch time.
I don’t get it. We saw how good they were in the 3rd when these two make the decisions, let shooters spot up & let Mitch clean up. Is it an elite offense? Not even close. But it’s def when we’re at our best.
Thibs has to see it, right?
Idk about DRose being the primary play maker. Seemed like he was the 3rd guy who scored but will also create for others.
