Yeah, if his mind is made up, then Sixer and Morey have leverage here. They can just get him in summer and probably gain assets in the process of dumping Simmons for cap space.

Only risk for Morey is upsetting Harden that he didn’t try harder at deadline and is forced to spend the last part of the year in Brooklyn.

Also, can we just say what a god awful team leader KD is? Every team he “leads” (aka, not GS) is full of unhappy 2nd/3rd stars.

They should have done with Harris what Blazers did with CJ. I think it's too late for that now. It's going to be an insane cost to dump him in the summer, that it will just make more sense to do a sign in trade with Nets.

CJ was an easier contract to move than Harris. Harris is paid more AND has a trade kicker that makes him even more expensive iirc.

That's true, but instead of getting 1 1st rounder and 2 2nd, they could have sent 1 first. In the summer it might be more than 3 FRP + other assets. You might as well send curry + Simmons to the nets.
Jalen Rosen made a good point yesterday. Nets probably don't want to trade for Simmons in February. He didn't play in almost a year, who knows in what physical/mental state he is.

Harris signed a max deal, right? With the raises he`s been getting his salary is probably more than 30% of the cap, which means that a trade bonus would be forfeited. Besides, doesn`t the team who trade the player pay the trade kicker?

I don’t think it was a full max. Also no, my understanding is the team trading for the player has to pay the kicker.

It was a max I think, but he now has 10 years of service and is eligble to make about $3 million more than he does today. However, it seems like I was right regarding the trade kicker:

"Most trade kickers are worth 15%, the highest percentage allowed. A trade bonus must be paid by the team that trades the player, rather than the team acquiring him."

Woj is backtracking now. Everyone has been saying Harden wants Philly for the last several day. Woj was saying Harden wants to stay in BK just yesterday, and now it's a total 180.

OMG Woj Bae no longer dropping bombs?

That's why you can't always go by reputation alone. These guys sometimes act as mouthpieces for organizations/agencies/players to secure future communication from their sources, even if it means disseminating misleading or blatantly false information.

Leaving a team in Free Agency is not quitting. Not at all.

He played the vast majority of the season with either KD or Kyrie so stop making **** up. KD has been playing most of the season at an MVP level.

And since KD got injured nearly all of the games have been on the road. Meaning he had Kyrie. Harden has barely had to play any games by himself.

Not to mention that KD is coming back in 10 days! Poor Harden can't handle another week?

Hes not at all back in Houston. He has an MVP level player who is returning in a week. And an all star teammate who plays on the road.

I think he can handle a few games without them. Hes sitting most of them out anyway.

I said KD and Kyrie. Not KD or Kyrie. He came to play with both of them and that hasn't happened very much. And the reason it's not happening this year is because of Kyrie's choice. If there was ever a legit time for a player to say I didn't sign up for this, this situation is it.

To be honest I think this is just a red herring. Harden isn’t that pissed about having to carry a team while Kd is out. He knows kd will be back and regardless of kyrie, KD is good enough to play with for ANY player.

IMO the real reason harden wants out is bc he is seeing his brand fall off in Brooklyn. He’s not voted in as an all star starter. Harden in his mind is the best player or at least top 3. You see grumbling only start when the first all star returns were coming back and the lack of mentions as a top player in the media/online.

I hadn't thought about that aspect but you could be right.

At this point he’s not worth the headache.

What’s he going to do in Philly? Dwight Howard part 2?

Stupid trade for Nets btw.

They did the same exact move with the Boston guys and gave up all those picks.

Houston owns their souls for a decade now.

I criticized him before, but Morey is "pulling a homer". What a turn of events.

I wonder if Morey was in Hardens ear this whole time, trying to get him to tank? Kind of like how no one knew Kawhi was secretly in George's ear the whole time.

They don't call him the Wizard for nothing.

When he isn't getting forced by an idiot owner and fool-hearted Harden to trade for Westbrook, he's actually very good at his job.

We’re giving Morey too much credit and Harden not enough credit for just being a loser.

**** Adam Silver. You forced the Colangelo's on the Sixers franchise and chased away Hinkie because he was gaming your league by tanking.

Guess what fool? This is WHAT YOU GET. No TANKING here. You reap what you sow.

It is very ironic he took the Nets job when they had no picks. Finally got the picks back, just to trade them all away again lol

Harden is such a clown. What is he even upset about?

Him and Kevin Durant are enough to win a Championship. Even with his subpar play the two of them were #2 in the East.

Then KD got injured for a month. Since then almost all games have been on the road. Meaning he has had Kyrie.

In 10 days the All Star game will happen. And KD will be back after.

As long as he gets to play with KD he should be satisfied. Even if Kyrie only plays on the road. And there is a decent chance the mandate will be repealed in NYC by April.

If he decides in FA he wants to play in Philly thats fine.

But what is with the antics? Faking injury, quitting on the team, ruining what little chemistry we have left?

Why not be professional and wait out the season. This man is looking for happiness but can't find it anywhere.

Not with Dwight, not with CP3, not with Westbrook, now not with Durant.

He won't find it in Philly either. Wait till Embiid is out for 30 games and he has to carry the load again. How will he react?

I bet he put out the BS yesterday for the Nets knowing the Nets would give him the next big scoop.

Hope it doesn't get done this season as it's a deal that likely helps both teams
