With Caleb signing and Highsmith on a 10 day does that prohibit us from signing Gogi?

This is a good question--any clarity on this?

Martin’s deal is for the balance of the season. He then will become a restricted free agent on July 1. Based on where the Heat stand against the salary cap for their 2022-23 payroll, the Heat’s likely maximum offer would be a four-year, $44.4 million contract. Should an outside team exceed that figure, the Heat likely would be unable to march.

Caleb is an RFA next season. What kinda contract would you guys give Caleb?
Kinda crazy to throw big money at him. We don't need another Duncan/Tyler Johnson/etc situation and we also have to look into seeing if we can also retain Strus and Gabe, who will probably command money, as well.
Ideally, I'd say a good deal for us to retain Caleb is $7mil/yr for 3yrs, Player Option on the third year.
That annual amount can be bumped up to $10mil/yr, but we need a Team Option on the third year.
Either way, it's around $21mil guaranteed.
This should be enough to take care of Caleb while giving him time to establish himself (i.e., show consistency/improvement) as an NBA player. It also gives him flexibility to earn significantly more.
As of Tuesday afternoon, the Heat had not yet expressed interest to Dragic’s camp in bringing him back this season, according to a league source.

Kind of nuts that Kz is basically the reason we didn’t sign Martin to a 2 year minimum contract like with did with Strus and Gabe. Would have been nice to have Martin at the minimum for 1 more season. I just hope the Heat don’t overpay
Overpay was flipped for Butler, Iguodala, Crowder and then Lowry.dshearn wrote:Pharenheit wrote:somerandomdude wrote:https://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/miami-heat/fl-sp-miami-heat-notebook-tuesday-20220215-6wlwpnzqy5blfdkkzo673cebne-story.html

I loved the johnson/ Dion year, but the heat have to remember what over pays causes.
Martin is probably my favorite Heat player, I love underdogs and really respect effort, but man even I am nervous. One we can loose him, but damn we could handicap the team with an overpay.
A 2 year deal would have been ideal.

No need to express what is already known.
