I love his off ball cuts and movement paired with Cade but he needs to get in that gym and shoot the **** out of the ball this offseason to really have a chance to be a successful starter in this league. And this would be the year to do it for him because he'll be a FA in the summer of 2023 so he for sure needs to add that dimension to his game to really have a chance to get paid well in this league. He's proven he's a rotation player, but he needs to hit jumpers to take that next step.
i wouldn't hold my breath because he needs to completely rebuild his jumper from the ground up. his shot is very much like ish smith's, in that their footwork is really bad so they rely on elevation, which adds a hitch to their shot and makes them "arm shooters". it works for them in the mid range because they elevate for separation and don't need too much strength to put accuracy/touch into their shots but spot-up 3s are much different. on spot-up shots speed is pretty crucial in getting off open looks and footwork/efficiency of form play a huge part in that.
his shot isn't the only thing holding him back though. he obviously has his strengths: he's uber athletic, he's active, etc. but he also isn't the most cerebral player, isn't particularly skilled, doesn't make plays for his teammates and doesn't even always make the easy play. unless he somehow overcomes all those weaknesses i think his potential is being an energy wing off the bench, and not necessarily for a quality team.
