I mean, there are plenty of game winning (jump) shots in NBA play off history. But I don't think there are many, if any other, buzzer beating drive. Not to mention he did it against the nr. 1 defense, being guarded by an All D player in Paul George, receiving the ball 20+ feet away from the basket, with his back to the basket and having only 2.2 seconds left to complete the drive. 999 out of 1000 would have settled for a turnaround or pull up jumper.
the decision to sub out Roy Hibbert, the best rim protector at that time, for Sam **** Young only to get beaten by a layup gamewinner still is the worst coaching decision Frank Vogel ever made.
Funny thing that year was that the Spurs basically made the same mistake in the finals (subbing out Tim Duncan for a smaller player) which resulted in a Bosh Rebound and a Ray Allen 3.
I believe it was Hansbrough who was brought in place of Hibbert. And did you actually see what Hansbrough had to do during that play. I mean it was Cole-Allen-James-Bosh on the floor. Do you expect Hibbert to have done it better or just leave someone open to protect the rim for a drive no one really expected anyway?
Besides, the Pacers weren't like the Jazz today depending mostly of 1 guy as a defense, they were a great defense as a team.
