you have to ask 2-3 things to him;run like crazy in transition, defend on ball like a possesed man and to shoot spot-up threes.
and stop:if you want him to create something you are gonna put him in a bad place;just develop him as a 3-D guy, don't force him to carry the ball in any situation(one of the reasons is absurd we did not add a ball handler until now)and is gonna be a very useful player, the potential is right there
in a limited role.
This is execlly why great teams develop players better.
They give them up 2,3 duties to handle. For somebody like Kuminga it's defense and finishing dunks & layups for year one.
For Kawhi for Spurs in first 2 years it was on ball defense with ablity to hit open 3s when needed.
As they got better, their role expended.
RJ Hampton has body of nba player but everything is messy. His shooting comes and goes, so does playmaking and defense. And his role is constantly being yo-yoed. From on ball to off ball to playmaker, to shooting guard.
On flip side you have Kevin Porter Jr who started into messy Cavs situation as SG and even SF. Than he become two guard, now he supposed to be point guard, but in same time Jalen Green also plays similar role. And for both players is hard to get better if on nightly bases they have no clue what their role supposed to be.
Houston, probably more than even Magic, has too many young players that they try to develop at once and in reality it just creates chaotic environment for playes. And things there already excalated month ago when Wood refused to be subbed into a game and Porter left game after heated debate with assistent coach John Lucas
