Kobe dropped 60 at 37. So not really sure why you immediately say someone's favorite player was not and will not be dropping 56 at 37 definitively.

It was certainly a great game by LeBron, but it's not the untouchable 'never gonna happen for anyone else or happened before' that you seem to appear to want to project it as.

Kobe’s 60 and Lebrons game last night are on two completely different planets. Kobe’s game was a sideshow. He took 50 shots, a career high, more than he even took to get 81. it was essentially just a retirement party with him chucking to a comical degree. Lebron scoring 56 on 19 fewer shot attempts is infinitely more impressive. Never mind the season as a whole

A lot of guys of all ages can score 60 if they have the green light to shoot 50 times. Let me repeat that. 50 shot attempts. Just so we are straight here, he shot 50 times. He took 50 shots. 21 threes. 12 ft.

Ok cool. But since the complete text of the original poster is quoted by me.

He did not talk about efficiency, shot selection, etc... He simply said Your favorite player was not and will not be dropping 57 at 37. Discuss.

and I discussed that he was wrong... because it has happened before and will happen again. Regardless of what the 'context' of the game is or the efficiency/spectacle of the performance of the player doing the scoring in that game.

Only fools are trashing Lebron. He's having a remarkable season. Anyone else puts up 29.4ppg 8.1rpg 6.2apg with .618 TS% and they would receive tons of praise, but Lebron short of a title is just tons of hate.

AD has missed 27 out of the Lakers 63 games, and considering they are essentially a two man show, that's too much. On top of that Westbrook is a terrible addition to the team, and they lost tons of depths to get gun.

People need to stop nitpicking on things like his defense, he's in his 19th season carrying the offensive load, do you expect to play like when he was in Miami at 27?

It was Kobe's last game, they were forcing the ball to him, 22/50 is a far cry from 19/31. I mean Kobe was never very efficient to begin with and he had dealt with a number of injuries, but the Lakers were on a mission to get him 60pts.

How on earth is pointing out that LeBron plays terrible defense a "nitpick"? It's one of the two critical aspects of playing basketball, with the other being scoring. If you're only doing one while refusing to do the other, you aren't playing winning basketball. It's one of the reasons why I don't want him to come back to Cleveland because I know that's exactly the kind of player we'd get from him (although given how elite the Cavaliers are in that department, we'd most certainly get away with it).

LeBron's numbers look pretty without context. I could care less about those numbers because I know what he's sacrificing to make it happen. I'd much rather he average 20 points on just as good efficiency while playing defense worthy of landing him on the first or second team. To me, that'd be a much more impressive feat given his age.

LeBron is LeBron, as a goat challenger certain things are to be expected from you. Even at 37

Finna, RAPTOR and LEBRON (those stoopid stats that are trying to make those 2 words be like Xerox, but we're not going to fall for it) need to be thrown out of a window, from the 81st floor.

I think people judging Lebron as if he is supposed to be in his prime have a big agenda against him. He is 37yo! Out of his prime. Every year he's an elite player should be seen as a huge positive for his legacy.

He's probably having his best year as a Laker.

Okay then, just be consistent and maintain that he is a 37 year old, out of his prime, who is now only capable of playing 1 end of the floor well.

The problem is when people say he is still a top 5 player.

He is a top 5 offensive player.

But he is not impacting winning like a top 5 overall player.

Durant
Curry
Giannis
Doncic
Jokic
Harden
Embiid
Morant
Booker

are just several guys I would take over the 37 year old LeBron.

So for a 37 year old he is fantastic, yes. But that doesn't mean he's still a top 5 player. Defense is half the game and arguably the more important half.

Trae Young had 56 points and 14 assists in the same damn game this season and NO ONE talked about it except for Hawks fans and some trolls that were hating, as usual, on Trae and the Hawks. So you can take a chair and wait until we talk about Trae Young going off for 56 and 14 in the same damn game.

GenXer here, and I feel Lebron is the GOAT. Every game he plays makes me so happy that he is getting closer to regular season all time scoring leader.

And to those who feel the quality of English is declining -- to which standard are you comparing that to? Today's standard or the standard 30 years ago? Then English from a 100 years ago must be much more advanced than the current garbage coming our of our mouths or being typed right now.

Languages change over time -- there is no better or worse. If Gen Z or Gen Alpha decide to merge words or cut down on words to make sentences unintelligible for us older folk, who cares? As long as they can understand each other, we older folk are just yelling at clouds.

finna-contraction-going to; intending to; fixing to.

“Finna” means “gonna” for the most part. And for the longest time I naively thought finna referred to the Finals. Totally not, lol.

Team defense is as, or more, important than team offense, but individual defense is not as important as individual offense. Never has been and never will be, at least for perimeter players. LeBron is averaging 29.4ppg and playing bad defense. If he was averaging 22ppg and playing mediocre to good defense this team would probably have a slightly worse record. There are too many problems with the supporting cast/schemes/lineups for LeBron to cover much up defensively himself and he needs to do everything offensively. Monk has massively cooled off over the last couple of weeks and pretty much all of Russ's good looks are a result of (1) cutting and LeBron finding him under the basket or (2) attacking a closeout after a swing pass from LeBron. From a physical standpoint LeBron doesn't look that much different than the 2019-2020 season. If we had a team actually capable of being good defensively we would absolutely see LeBron defending at a league average or above level in the regular season (and better than that in the postseason). But right now without AD, the only types of games this team can win are the shootout types like last night where he scores 35+.

If I need to win a basketball game I'm still talking LeBron pretty comfortably over Harden, Morant and Booker. Harden isn't any better than LeBron defensively and is worse offensively. Morant and Booker definitely do not "impact winning" more than LeBron, the Grizzlies went 12-2 when Ja was out early in the season and the Suns lineups with Booker and CP3 are not very good from a +/- standpoint.

There are things and people I'm not high on but I don't use my time thinking, talking, reading or writing about them.

As a result, I'm quite happy most of the time.

Haters might try it for a day and see how it feels.
