That Idiocracy was right.
Smart people aren't breeding as quick as stupid people, so the stupid are gaining a larger majority by the day. As a consequence, language has been changing.
It means 'fixing to', a term virtually no one ever used anyway. So obviously when you see it shoe-horned into thread titles it's just some young person trying to sound cool by using the new buzz word they recently learned.
I have no problem with them putting it on twitter or something, but this is a forum, a proper old school internet forum.... we speaks the English.
It's been used extensively in the south. It's the equivalent of "going to", which only makes sense if you consider the intended state as a location. In this case, "fixing" can be thought of as preparing oneself or alternatively aiming at the goal. "Going to" becomes gonna, which I'm sure you've used extensively in your life.
Any other old people diatribes? Are you against contractions as well?
I can already envision your Twitter timeline if you're talking about smart people not breeding. You also have no idea how language works.
My Twitter?... what a random comment. I said I don't care if people use it on Twitter, because I don't use it. 'Finna' is the sort of garbage that you find on there.
I have no idea how language works?
Your whole post of drivel does not even mention why you posted it. You could've just said...."I use that stupid word and your comment made me butthurt."
Again, you make a stupid comment about me not understanding language, yet you say this...."It's the equivalent of "going to", which only makes sense if you consider the intended state as a location."
Sorry, but I'm 'going to' make something to eat now and I'm 'gonna' get a drink. That mustn't make sense to you as 'going to' is only used when the intended state is a location.
When you finna to learn English? ..and if you are 'going to' learn English, it does not mean you are 'going to' England.
