Kobe shot 22/50 from the field and was 6/21 from 3 to get his 60 points and nobody was playing defense.
LeBron shot 19/31 from the field and 6/11 from 3 to get his 56 points and the Warriors were actually trying.

If LeBron took as many shots as Kobe did, he would have scored 90 and no...there hasnt been 'others who have done the same at that age or older'. There are literally 4 players ever and LeBron is 1 of them and Kobe's frankly shouldnt even count because his last game was a glorified scrimmage.

Smart people aren't breeding as quick as stupid people, so the stupid are gaining a larger majority by the day. As a consequence, language has been changing.

It means 'fixing to', a term virtually no one ever used anyway. So obviously when you see it shoe-horned into thread titles it's just some young person trying to sound cool by using the new buzz word they recently learned.

I have no problem with them putting it on twitter or something, but this is a forum, a proper old school internet forum.... we speaks the English.

It's been used extensively in the south. It's the equivalent of "going to", which only makes sense if you consider the intended state as a location. In this case, "fixing" can be thought of as preparing oneself or alternatively aiming at the goal. "Going to" becomes gonna, which I'm sure you've used extensively in your life.

Any other old people diatribes? Are you against contractions as well?

I can already envision your Twitter timeline if you're talking about smart people not breeding. You also have no idea how language works.

Fun fact for you: Melo has attempted 30+ shots 25 times in his career. Guess how many times he shot over 50? Once. His next highest was 45 points.

Big yikes

Actually I started out by saying it was a nice game

The truth is he has been stat padding but it was a nice game regardless

I cited someone who was older and who did it on the ROAD

Lebron dropping 51 @ Mia a couple of years ago was more impressive to me

We have had 11 50 pt game this year so far and only 3 have been road games . Its nice but the good players go off at home all the time and for Lebron he hit 6 threes which he basically does 4-5 times a year.

Lebrons stats are virtually identical road v home. It really has 0 relevance at all to how impressive it is or isnt. Less experienced players go off at home more, it's really past making amy different with ATG's

I'd love to see some data on this stat padding. It.keeps getting throw around but no one has actually verified it outside of the mythical 'eye test'. Is he suppose to give up or try less or something?

People justify things on insane levels when it comes to Lebron.

Wondering if your mod account was hacked at this point.

Actually No its not hacked you're literally trying to make something spectacular out of something mundane and wondering why people are questioning it .

Yeah scoring in front of the home crowd cheering you on is no different than doing it on the road in a hostile environment . You are right people do anything to justify things when it comes to Lebron.

I gave you example of older guy scoring 51 on the road and you basically

being older didn't matter
doing on the road didn't matter

apparently all that matters is being LeBron oh and that the efficiency was high even though we all know that there is very little defense being played in todays game

Just don't stop believing

I'm far from a LeBron Bobo... but people are seriously discounting a guy going for an efficient 56 in an NBA game?

"yeah, but on 31 shots"
"yeah, but at home"
"yeah, but Kobe did it"

Yikes. Tough (very butthurt and rattled) crowd.

Who would he defer to? Stanley Johnson and THT?

If you gave Melo 30 shots would he get 50 ?

It seems to me this game is being overblown because of the Lakers struggles and lebron needs some positive news on the backend of a disappointing season

It wasn't the best team GS could put on the floor but dominating performance by an older player. Lakers are going to be the most likely team to score a couple series upsets in the playoffs

Is this thread serious? It was all over social media, ESPN, local news, and of course Lebron's IG. There was a TON of coverage about his 56, with a lot of people needing a pant change after they were done commenting.

I said it was good game regardless and I wasn't even talking about him stat padding that game but prior to that game which is why he was catching so much flack that people feel then need to defend him with ridiculous overhyping of a good performance .

These were the top 4 and they were all good . Nobody should have to choose or rank them but simply appreciate them for the good performances they were .

Do you ever use the word "gonna", or do you always make sure to say going to?

It's slang brah

https://www.dictionary.com/e/slang/finna/

If someone wants to say the word, that's no big deal to each his own. But to type it online makes little sense due to both words having the same amount of letters. It's not a shortcut nor an abbreviation to type it out.

I can't tell if I've just been tone deaf or what.

I truly thought the origin of finna was some random person making an internet post where their fingers slipped typing 'gonna' and 'finna' ended up as the result. Those things end up as memes all the time so I figured it was just business as usual on the interwebs.

It wasn’t until I saw this thread and thought the meme was tired that I looked it up and found out it was actually a real thing.

I'll honestly say I think it phonetically sounds dumb and the way most folks are using it doesn’t justify it at all in terms of meaning (gonna covers most cases just fine).

I can't debate against people using different words just for the sake of using different words though. That happens all the time and the English language would be boring without it.

There is literally a LeBron hate thread posted on the GB on a weekly basis. His hate threads are posted on a 3:1 basis compared to his love-fest threads at this point and they are typically started by BOS, CHI or GS fans. As a mod I feel like you should know that lol

Did you actually watch the game? He definitely takes plays off, but he played very good defense for much of the game.

No, Kobe and MJ really didn't have comparably impressive games at his age. Kobe's 60 in his last game was on an insane 50 shots (LeBron's career high is 36) and he was barely being defended for a lot of the game (granted, he was hitting tough shots at the end when he was being defended). MJ's only 50+ game at 37+ was 51 points on 38 shots (after scoring 6 points on 2-10 shooting the previous game). It was still a great game, but it was 5 fewer points on 7 more shots than LeBron's game last night.

MJ's DRTG in that game was 98 vs 116 for Lebron in this game... and he was older plus playing after two years off... so I don't think you can say MJ's 51 point game wasn't comparably impressive.

I think I would prefer watching old MJ play than watch Lebron-ball at any age. Even at 38-39, his fade-aways were poetry in motion compared to Lebron's fade-downs (cos gravity pulls his big ole booty down sooner :P).

The stat padding zombie got lucky vs a corpse. Big story. Best story you can come up with for a super team being 9nth. Meantime Malone got 50 at 37, a few months from 38, in the playoffs.

Funny how ESPN used an image of MJ in a Bulls uniform instead of the Washington uniform.

Your response indictated to me that you don't understand how language works, how it comes to be, and how it actually evolves. You instead took this derisive tone and brought up this idea of too many dumb people breeding. So I've come up with this colorful idea of the opinions you espouse.
