This is dumb.
I never argue feeling, i can't care less what you feel. I argue opinions. And i don't take this too personal. it's strangers opinion on forum where 99% of people will never be face to face in their lifes.
As for claims. i qouted Janacsek 2012 study from 2012 where he come to conclusion that motor based skils learning curve is strongest between age 4 and 12. There are lot of arguments in science world about it, but strongest argument for limitations of human brain to learn new skills later comes from fact that forgine languages are almost impossible to perfect if you didn't start learning them as late as in puberty.
Furthermore, from sports based studies claims were:
Talent development programmes and the like base their developmental models on the notion that children within the golden age are “in prime position to develop motor coordination and acquire sport-specific skills” (USA Hockey, American Development Model; Mancini, 2015), or that the golden age constitutes a “window of optimal trainability” or “… sensitivity for skill training” (Skate Canada, 2010, both on p. 9).
There seems to be less agreement as to what exact age is the golden one. USA Hockey (2015) state, for instance, it is 9–10 years. Skate Canada (2010) says 8–12, while the Super Futsal School Program (2019) has decided the golden age lies between 6 and 12 years. The majority of estimates seem to lie within the range of 6–12 years, with the majority of authors agreeing that the onset of puberty closes the period. Some writers define different golden ages for boys and girls accordingly (e.g., Squillante, 2018; Parisi, 2019).
Guys like Siakam, Embiid and Duncan exist. They started practicing basketball at age of 14,15 and 16. They, however, entered nba with lot of skill. However we can make argument that they are/Were skilled despite starting to learn about basketball later in life, not because of it. Also their baseline talent is probably much higher than most players have. Embiid explained his ability to shoot by saying he was watching great shooters shoot. That is not how many people can actually learn but hey, there he is.
I do think people actually improve in nba. I'm just not sold on idea that clear weakness can turn into significant nba strenght. I don't belive that some skill will have massive overhaul by strenghtening competition.
Most people who improved their shooting mastered things like catch& shoot because of massive amount of repetition. PJ Tucker normally is definition of mediocre shooter, but guy figured corner 3 point shot is his sweet spot and basically didn't shoot from anywhere but there . TO me this is not player " learning" something but player being smart to adjust his game to his strenghts. ( PJ Tucker, for a record shot 76% of all threes, for career, from corner ).
Xat blocked and it's hilarious. Our last two direct conversations and arguments was him claiming Bamba was more talented than Vuc and him getting worked up about superior talent of ... Garuba. I would probably block myself too if i burned out on Bamba shield. But i still like Xat, i think his posts last 2 years delcined, i think he got worked up himself into political things way too much and he makes argument about things nobody esle actually arguments for or against ( happened other day in topic about winnable games ).
In general if i ever attacked somebody, sorry. Not my intention. Nor should i be topic. Whole thing started with me not being sold on Jabari Smith. I would still not draft him first overall. I would still draft both Banchero AND Chet over him.
Can we go back to topic ?
