What good is having a scorer as good as Harden, when your poor team defense can make Saddiq Bey look as good as Harden? What good is Embiid’s iso skills if CP3 can just get Ayton open looks at the basket? What good is Embiid’s rim protection when he is at the corner staying close to Brolo at corner 3?
Love it or hate it, our season hinges on Embiid and Harden scoring on ISO down the stretch. What we need now is to focus on being better on the other end.
Exactly. A big part is on the coach not using young fresh legs rotated into the center spot that offers some rim protection. Niang is also not a good defensive player, they have been getting switched off on him from Thybulle consistently and he lacks the speed to cover ground. Niang should be a backup shooter that comes in and plays short minutes but he is left in for way too long. Doc should play Bassey and Reed. I really like Bassey because he can offer paint protection and let Niang play a little closer to perimeter players without such an obvious blow by penalty. Instead we have a defense that allows open 3’a and no resistance in the paint either.
