Barnes raw numbers are better, his advanced stats are even or better, he's finishing the season strong while Mobley's out, the Raptors have a better record than the Cavs, and it was clear his defensive impact was mostly due to playing with Allen. Even his offensive numbers are inflated playing with Garland, elite playmaker who can make a G-leaguer like Moses Brown look good.
It's crazy how the silly "generational defender, should be in the running for DPOY/all-star" narrative that was established early is so difficult to overcome despite Barnes' body of work and Mobley's decline before injury.
This is not to say Mobley's not going to be an amazing player, I was Mobley or bust going into the draft. But his hype got blown way out of proportion.
Cade has raw numbers on brutal efficiency, sucked for half the season and really only had one good month, shouldn't even be in the conversation unless you want to give Jalen Green a look too.
Objectively Barnes should win. There is no logical reason for Mobley anymore. But the perception for some is going to be same stats but Mobley is all defensive on defense and therefore better.
