Hayward gets paid 30 mill/year to miss 30 games. He's a starter worthy player and would improve many teams.....when he plays. Nothing more important than availability; and doing this trade removes all flexibility for the Cavs.
Youre trying to double down here. It would be an objectively bad trade for the Cavs, and i imagine a lot of your Cavs brethren would agree. You would want assets to make this swap
I’m not doubling down on anything, nor am I saying I’d do the swap straight up. Pretty sure I made it clear that rozier needs to be included.
Even with Rozier (who i think gets a bad rap), this is the same situation as Charlotte, who's looking to dump those guys. You have a young core (Garland/Mobley/Allen and Lamelo/Bridges) who will be relatively cheap for a while. These vets dont do much but give a couple extra wins when you can get younger and better fitting guys by waiting a year and using the ample cap space. Neither team would want to tie up their cap in those guys
I think some teams would trade for Rozier and value him. Im just not seeing it right off the bat. I especially dont see a team that would take him if Hayward was tied to him
The difference between us and Charlotte is that Cleveland needs more scoring, especially at the perimeter. Is this the first move I’d make? Nah, but it’s not a bad idea to fall back on if we run out of solutions, especially if it rids us of Sexton (who wants to start which we just can’t afford to do).
But as another poster just pointed out, there’s no way Cleveland’s would do this because that just isn’t the direction they want to go, and yeah, I’m not really sure why I thought they would.
