Pfff....Jimmy would never attempt that many 3s in a game if he didn't have it going.

He's not a superstar. But he's still a great player and can sometimes play like one.

Whut. Tatum is already better and is 8 years younger.

Tatum is way more talented there is no doubt. Huge Tatum fan and he is getting more consistent everyday. Jimmy is no where that talented but Butler has had the heart... that being said Tatum is developing it and he is player along with Ja that I love. I think they are part of the next fun chapter of the NBA. Loving these Celts right now.

There was some comedic value in Atlanta's defence, I'll give them that
I suspect in the next rounds the defences will not be so funny.

jimmys problem is he needs a team that can match his energy. all the loser teams failed him he is like MJ's forbidden son.
only miami can tame him which is why i root for miami. i would gift jimmy to punch someone just like MJ did it to kerr to make him grow up.

you might call me crazy but jimmy is the only guy i can root for in this league that has old mans game. rest of guys are tissue soft i dont even want to bother watching. if you want to win a title you need jimmys perfectionist attitude otherwise ur just playing for money, fame.

19/64 from the field (29.7%)
+\- of -86 over 4 games (negative 21.5 per game)
-.09 OBPM, -.04 DBPM, -1.4BPM, 0 VORP
-.2 Win Shares

Jimmy “superstar” Butlers stats last season against the Bucks while getting swept. Probably the worst performance in a playoff series I’ve ever seen.

Forget this game for a minute. The Heat is the #1 seed in the East, and the way they got there is with Jimmy taking 14.5 shots a game. I think that's when Heat are at their best. Tonight Jimmy saw a bad defence in front of him and he put some fools in the basket, which is great and that's what he should've done, but when things get tight again I think the Heat should go back to sharing the ball more, like they did all year. Because if their game plan becomes "lets see if JB can get 40 again", it's just not gonna work. He's not that type of player.

NBA fan logic we need to trade one of two best players because (Player X) one needs to shine more.

Not a big deal, really. He and Bam are in that 2nd tier just like Cp3 and Booker are and they've been doing alright (1st seed, finals appearances)

Bam?! Lol i mean, he is a very good defensive player but cant make up his mediocre ofense. He havent been even mediocre vs Capela less Hawks.

If the thread is a reaction to his point total today then yes, it's reactionary. But Butler has demonstrated a career's worth of star impact, and was the clear best player on a Finals-bound team just 2 years ago

The whole superstar vs star debate is typically just a difference in definition. Some say superstars are those top 3 or so guys, while others seem to refer to 10 or so guys as superstars. Take away those distances in definitions and I don’t know of anybody who doesn’t view him a an upper level player.

But yes, the title of this thread stinks of reactionary.

Butler is not a superstar but can give you superstar-ish output over a short stretch. On top of that, he is an excellent 2-way player. I see him very much being like Paul George in that respect, but Butler is less of a chucker.

I am not even sure Bam becomes a perennial all-star. He is a Swiss army knife as a player, but he just doesn't have any dominant qualities. In that sense, he reminds me of Rasheed Wallace, in terms of impact.

They are playing vs hawks. It's layup line all game long.

Relax my guy. They're up on a playin team. Keep the same energy when they getting steamrolled in the second round.

Please Leprechaun, get past KD/Kyrie first. I'd genuinely love for the Heat to eliminate Boston for the 4th straight time. Maybe this time it'll be Jimmy that has a game saving block on Tatum.

Didn’t he put up a 45 point triple double in the finals basically by himself? Jimmy been a beast for a minute now.

Butler is in that 2nd tier of stars, I wouldn't put him in my top 10. Giannis, Embiid, Jokic, Luka, KD, LBJ, Kawhi & Steph are clearly ahead of Butler. Then you have Tatum who most would take over Butler. That would leave Butler at the cusp of making that 10 spot but then you still have guys like Booker, CP3, Kyrie, Morant & Young.
