I'm happy with this.Wizenheimer wrote:to me, the best option now that the Blazers got screwed out of the 11th pick by Covid is...
hope for lottery luck, both in the lottery itself and in picking the right player
if Detroit would accept the Milwaukee pick and trade Grant for the Portland's big TPE, do that. But if not, then use the pick on a forward and give Dame, Billups, and the new roster a year to see if it gels and shows good upside. And approaching next year's trade deadline Portland 21M and 6.5M TPE's might have great value. Then, in the summer of 2023 Simons will no longer be BYC and all options can be open without structural obstacles
the first step was dismantling that dead-end roster. The 2nd step is some patience

I really do want to keep Dame.Case2012 wrote:

There's a HUGE difference between PG and Butler. They actually would have been expected to turn the needle.Case2012 wrote:The last 2 teams that traded away all their picks were the lakers and bucks and they both won the title the same season. I’m here for the now, and if that’s what it takes LFG. Regardless, since all our picks are locked up until we make it back to the payoffs it’s irrelevant.
I would trade every pick and pick swap legally allowed and every player on the team not named Lillard if we got back 2 more top 20-25ish players.
I’m feeling like Apollo Creed and the “blow it up” / “mortgage our future” guys are Rocky right now.
5 years ago Olshey could’ve traded for PG or Butler (Haynes confirmed this in a spaces on twitter), and Olshey wasn’t willing to mortgage our future for a possible one year rental. He did the same with Holiday and Harden as well. Well, 5 years later we’re in the lottery and our picks are locked up anyways. You ALWAYS go for the win. But maybe that’s my hyper competitive Capricorn nature. It’s like Gretzky said, you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.

Portland would simply match the max offer. It's very likely both Nurk and Ant have agreed to the outlines of
their new deals and everyone is just waiting for the green light for the deals to get signed.

I was hoping and expecting this to be one of the first replies. You did not disappoint. Jroy have it all.

If Simons gets offered the max, I will drive him to the airport.

C'mon now, no team is going to allow another team sign one of their players to a max contract when they
were a RFA.
Portland matched the max type of contracts to Batum and Crabbe and those teams have to strip down their rosters
in order to be in position to offer the max contract. They'd lose their rights to their guys for no gain which is why
I've been skeptical Simons will get any max offers.
Most likely Simons will end up with a deal similar to what Powell signed for last off season.

You think Simons will get a deal w/ a Y1 of 15M?!
Man I wish. No way he gets less than 22M IMO.
