Who is going to score on such a roster? Who will Giddey pass the ball to?

The real decision the Jazz FO is making is between Continuity, Cap Flexibility, and Cash Considerations.

I bet Giddey hits Gobert with many more passes. He can pass to Bojan, Clarkson & whoever we can flip Conley for maybe Grant?
1 Giddey
2 Dort
3 Bojan
4 Grant
5 Gobert

I think this lineup will have trouble scoring. I really like Giddey but if the Jazz move Mitchell and keep the same roster, we'll have a terrible offense. A few extra lobs to Gobert won't change anything, and everyone knows he can score any other way, while Giddey isn't a good 3pt shooter (26.3%). Teams will just sag off him and make it harder to pass to Gobert. I also don't see any way we get Grant for Conley, whom the Pistons don't need.

Pistons have always been interested in Conley. It upsizes our tiny perimeter defenders too. Dort is a defensive stopper and Giddey and Donovan are both average.

These are the pg's that are clearly in front of him.

Conley is better than Maxey, Vanvleet, Fox, and Lonzo. I wouldn't count Harden or SHA as point guards, but if you did, sure. By my count that puts Conley at 10, but I'd personally take him over Lowry, so that's 9th best in my books (so not top 6-7). But it's also the most stacked position, and I think that makes him about a top 40 player and Smart is just nowhere near that, and two third string guys aren't making up the difference.

Boy did this post not age well. Smart wins defensive player of the year while Conley is probably bottom 5 pg in the league. Imagine how different the second half of this season and this playoff series would have been with Smart and Pritchard in place of Conley and Forrest.

bkohler wrote:So that would be Maxey/Thybulle/Harris/Korkmaz/23 1st/ 24 swap/ 26 swap / 28 swap... I don't think that would get it done personally. Too high of a chance that those swaps don't add value, although Maxey is a nice centerpiece to build something around. And I would love to see a defense with Thybulle and Gobert on the court simultaneously, but I wonder If you did Mitchell + Conley instead? That saves the Jazz a bit of long-term money and allows them to keep Bogey if they want to compete or get value from him elsewhere in a trade.

A healthy Hayward would be a good fit, but I think the Jazz fanbase burned the bridge with both Gordon and his wife when they left. I don't think the Jazz org was too happy how that went down either.
