We need defensive dogs.

It's why Eason or Daniels should be the pick at #10.

Prior to the 2019 draft, I never saw a single analysis nor even one mock draft that had Rui going as high #9 or going before Brandon Clarke.

But, I'd say it's false praise to vindicate this board -- there was pretty much 100% applause here for us picking Rui.

Nah. Nonplussed and underwhelmed mostly. Link. But people like to give you hell because the board was being spammed on the topic :clown: Then as always once a player is ours fans bend reality to look at the bright side.

Fair enough. Nothing was quite like one's memory of it -- not even youth. :)

Jokic and the Nugz are out. After the game, Jokic pretty much committed to re-signing with Denver, unlike our champion panda.

That means that signing Jokic as a free agent is out. We will have to commit to Unseld's plan of having Zingus play more like Jokic. Unclear if this plan also involves Beal playing more like Jordan, and Rui and Deni playing more like Kawhi and Luka Doncic.

Selfishly, I hope Philly and Utah also get bounced - they would both possibly want Beal if they crash and burn in the playoffs.
Can't say I do. Who else gonna shoot?

Philly is the team but I'm not sure how they make things work. I'm sure they'd offer Tobias Harris. Even if Philly makes it out of the first round, they're too mentally fragile to make it past the Heat. Morey burned his bridges with Simmons, held out for Harden, got Harden, and now is holding out hope for the same result as last season as a best case scenario. If the Sixers blow a 3-0 lead, the internet is going to hit peak meme and Morey loves his big names. Morey also loves ripping other teams off in trades though - as he thought he was doing when he held out for Harden.

GPII has been incredible in Golden State, but we can't overlook that they have a near perfect environment for him to thrive. Not many teams have the shooting and playmaking at other positions to allow them to get away with a 6-2 guy who can't create his own shot or shoot all that effectively as a catch and shoot guy. It takes a heck of a lot of playmaking from Draymond, and floor spacing from Steph, Klay, Porter, Poole and Wiggins, to open up the back door cuts that allow a 6-2 role player to tally 55 dunks in 1200 minutes of action.

Guess you need a PF who plays like a PG, to have a PG who plays like a PF.

...& anyway, he's not really a PG -- averaging just over 2 assists per 40 minutes.

OTOH, he does seem to have figured out how to make an open 3 -- he's at almost 36% on at least a non trivial volume. He's a hell of a defender, however. & cheap.

Cheap so far anyway. This is the first year that he's finally get serious minutes. More than twice as many this year as the total of his previous 5 years. Great to see someone have that kind of success after working at it so long.

Ex Zards OP and GPII with some timely late plays to help GS over the hump. Curry had a little to do with it as well.

Gobert is likely to get moved imo. I'm not sure to who or for what.

Wiz board scouts vindicated again

Prior to the 2019 draft, I never saw a single analysis nor even one mock draft that had Rui going as high #9 or going before Brandon Clarke.

But, I'd say it's false praise to vindicate this board -- there was pretty much 100% applause here for us picking Rui.

Moreover, it was followed by an endless reaffirmation of that judgement & an equally endless disparaging of Clarke. Which went on for years, btw. With a couple of notable exceptions, me being the most notable.

Of course... everyone makes mistakes! I make plenty of them. But it's rare to see anyone acknowledge his mistakes.

For example, you can be absolutely certain that there won't be a parade of posts in which people say something like "I sure was wrong about Brandon Clarke." No chance that happens.

So, no, I don't think this board is particularly adept at ranking draft prospects.

I could be remembering Clarke's very vocal supporters on the board, but the board has a pretty-good record vs the draft moves the Wizards have made, for example, the board was screaming to no draft Vesely. Also, read the I was right about...thread

Remind me again why the Wizards couldn't be bothered to make room for Gary Payton Jr.?

So does Donald Duck! :) "Adept" would need better evidence than that!

Plus hindsight affects memory: a lot of people who now say "I really liked Haliburton in 2020," are forgetting that they also had doubts about him. & that they loved Precious Achiuwa (there was major support for us to draft him at #9).

Hey, I was sure Tyler Bey would be a good NBA player!

LOL @ Draymond getting ejected for a Flagrant 2 on Brandon Clarke, hyping up the crowd as he leaves and Iggy telling him to calm TF down.

Jordan Poole was the 28th pick in 2019.

Now he's carrying the Warriors as their third Splash Brother.

He was playing in the G-League last season too.

His movement without the ball… he’s picked all that up from the older Splash Bros.

With that said, the Grizzlies not rebounding the ball while they have a size advantage on the frontline is inexcusable. That’s why they lost.

Otto played BIG today.

Nah. GS did get 4 more defensive boards than Memphis -- but that was only because they had more opportunities to get them!

Overall, neither rebounding nor any other aspect of ball control was any kind of problem For Memphis. The 2 teams had the same number of offensive boards. but, the Warriors turned the ball over more, fouled more, & had fewer steals! As a result, Memphis had 4 more FTAs than the Warriors & took 2 more shots than them as well. Not to mention that Golden State tried to give the game away by going 13-20 from the line!

Memphis lost b/c they could not shoot the 2-ball. The Grizzlies went 25-55 on 2-point attempts, while the Warriors went 31-55. That's where the GS edge in defensive boards came from.

That was the game.
