Raw tools is important, but it's not that most important. Dont pass on two or three year college basketball player because one prospect has better tools. Also I am not saying pass on raw prospect either. Judge them by intelligence of how they play ball. Do they get it, and if they get it do you see path for them to aquire new skill and use that skill. Tools themselves are meaningless if you dont use tools. Just like intelligence is meaningless if you dont use it and help yourself.
Ayo went from guy who did everything at college to role playing at NBA as rookie and didnt even felt it like it was struggle to adjust to new environment, new players, new role. Guys like that exist, now AK draft another one.
I'm not down on Ayo but Ayo was dog **** for pretty much all of April and the playoffs. Ayo gets a pass because he's a 2nd rounder from Chicago and I'm as happy as anybody he's a useful find in the 2nd round but let's not tie an entire draft philosophy around a 2nd round find.
Being flexible is important and I don't want the Bulls' FO to limit the type of prospects they are looking at. That is something that GarPax really struggled with at the end.
