Seriously?

Lebron in 2010. Before than Nash in 2006. Nash in 2006 was a pretty similar situation to Jokic's this year - his team had a significantly worse record than last season but the voters took into account that Amar'e missed all but 3 games due to an injury and that Joe Johnson left in the summer.

Why stop there? Let's give the vote back to K-pop fans. Andrew Wiggins for MVP!

Ummm...what?

I make the point that the PLAYERS should have more say in this vote - you know...the guys who have to COMPETE against these players. Perhaps their assessment of who is the best player should matter more than the media. Your response to my post is to give the vote to the fans?

Perhaps your post is sarcasm...in which case I apologize.

You know this kind of argument might have a slight bit of substance if Embiid had ever gotten out of the 2nd round himself

Also, Nick Wright is probably one of the biggest jokes in the US media. Everyone knows that. I’m surprised you think his takes are post worthy

he is right this time though, Joker will probably lead the PER for another 7 years , and his team will finish top 3 a few times. He is a lock to more MVPs.

No you think Giannis should be the MVP.
You've stated this all year long in the MVP thread.
If it wasn't Giannis, you would go with Embiid.
If it wasn't Embiid, you would go with Booker or CP or Luka or Ja or DeRozan or Tatum or whoever not named Jokic.

i said he deserve to be in the race ,giannis won FMVP hjas nothing to prove
The biggest problem with Embiid was flopping and one game when he scored zero points or the block of Giannis (but that would work only between these two)
And tell me why shouldnt pick Booker or Cp3 ? best team best record great basketball and they are playing with china Paine ,cam Jonhson ,Ayton thats a good team but nothing special
Ja ? Grizz is bunch of young players and they easily got 2nd place.
Luka ,Mavs fans know how much i like him ,but he had good numbers and his team was 3rd.
I want RoLo to be my son in law!

Yeah! Give it to the player on the most stacked roster! Who cares if they are the most valuable to their team or not, and that Denver would be a steaming dumpster fire without Jokic? It's not called the 'most valuable player award', it's the 'best player on the best team award'!

Perhaps if the players were voting, they may have chosen Jokic. That is certainly possible. He is a great player.

However, the last time this season we saw the best players in the NBA all on the floor together - trying to win a game for the most important reason - pride and bragging rights - it was Embiid who was getting the ball trying to win the game, while Jokic had a seat on the bench watching like the rest of us. Tells me all I need to know about what the players think.

Jokic won’t win it next year unless his team wins 70 games tbh. Which is fine. I don’t think he cares. I think he wants a healthy team that can compete in deep May or June opposed to some award he doesn’t really care about.

Next season it will probably come down to Embiid or Luka in all honesty. The media feels they owe Embiid one but I think Luka might show up in better shape next year and have something special planned for the league

Congrats to Jokic and his incredible carry job this year. Very deserved and beating out Embiid and Giannis is no easy feat.

However I hope they don't normalize giving out MVPs like this one and the Russell one going forward. Russell's already hasn't aged very well. One of the joys of the playoffs is watching the MVP try to win a championship so when the MVP is on a mediocre team it completely removes that fun plotline. We are in the second round and the MVP of the whole league isn't even playing. It's not his fault but it sucks

This isn’t a “who is the best player award” and if it was that would be Giannis.

Lol salty Philadelphia beat-writer.
He is right. Jokic has anger management issues and can't be on the floor during key defensive plays, but hey advanced stats say he's an elite defender.

Yeah, can't be on the floor at the end of close games because of his defense....

One question for all Embiid fans crying here about him being snubbed.

How many times has a player with his team being lover than 3th place in his conference won MVP in the last 20 years (I didn't search further, I was lazy). One time and that was Westbrook with his historical season. This season Jokic has done something historical, and won with his team being 6th.

What has Embiid done historically this season to win MVP with his team being 4th in the East. He had historically to deal with Simmons quitting on his team and the city. That is it? Fact is if Jokic doesn't have argument for MVP, Embiid shouldn't be in the conversation.

He does win, the fact that his team is even in the playoffs is a testament to his abilities. He didn’t have his second and third best player the whole season and he ended up as 6th seed, how is he not actually winning?

He’s arguably the GOAT offensive big man of all time, and the all time leader in PER. All his advanced stats are absurd and eye popping. He deserves to be on this list

Just not MVP of the 2nd round lol. WE all know who the best player is, its not close, shame voters did this. Kind of like when Malone won over Jordan.

The all star game? That’s your reasoning

Jokic is like Duncan, he doesn’t care about the all star game. I called it even before the game I said he’ll probably take 4-5 shots as usual.

I guess Duncan was trash as well because he didn’t care for all star games…
