To be honest, I went into this season thinking that making the ECF would be a success and I still feel that we overachieved to make it this far. I really didn’t like our off-season and didn’t think we were that close to a title but damn, we came pretty close to making it to the Finals. So on that hand, it’s hard to consider this season a failure and hard to be disappointed with the results. What’s crazy is the team didn’t even play that well in the postseason (shooters were MIA for most of the playoffs) and we still took it this far. That being said, it’s never not disappointing missing out on making the Finals when you’re this close.
Butler playing like a top 5 player was amazing to see and it bums me out that we probably never see him play at this level again. Would really love to see him win a ring as a Heat player, but this is probably the run it should have happened if it was going to.
Interesting summer ahead of us.
I didn't think we'd see Jimmy play as good as he did in the Bubble ever again. I was wrong. Jimmy can still get it done, but he needs another scorer to take pressure off. We really missed (the good, healthy version) of Herro, as he has been our safety valve when Jimmy hasn't had it. Unfortunately, he was hurt and couldn't give us anything.
We were so close. And we will be good again next year. But we can't be complacent if we truly want to hang with the big boys. Bold moves are needed - Riley will go hunting, it's what he does. Didn't hesitate to trade Eddie Jones to get in JWill/Antoine Walker/James Posey. He'll do it again.
