I found that Jake Fischer on Topic Thunder podcast yesterday saying he thinks it'll be Banchero based on the same methodology he used to arrive at realizing Giddey was the pick last year. (Basically smoke about about everyone except for Giddey led him to realize sort of late in the process that the thunder were intentionally leaking smokescreens)
I'm not sure Fischer was stating he thinks it will be Banchero for OKC based on the lack of noise but he was answering a common question which is "Why does Paolo seem to be absent from top 2 discussions?" with a logical answer surrounding OKCs close to the vest approach.
That said I'd be elated with Paolo. There's not a choice in the top 3 that would upset me (outside of Ivey) but Paolo is #1 on my big board.
Jake Fischer knows how much as I do:
- They could want Banchero because they don't speak about him
- They could get the 4th by trading Shai to Sacramento
- They can try to move up to 7 or 8 but it's not easy because they don't have the right player those teams want (need a package of picks)
- Rumor of trading up to get Sochan could be a smokescreen or a true rumor, we don't know
- OKC like Kenrich
- OKC may have told Caleb Houstan they will draft him at #30.
This is a reporter basically just saying common sense stuff without breaking any serious news. If you follow the NBA you know those informations and can say that it may or may not happen. I have no idea how he got so many followers.
He also said he felt OKC was gonna pick Giddey 1 or 2 days before the draft, so weird he didn't post anything about it
