Just curious, if we really are " all in " on JS, what does one bad workout really mean right?
If so, why does one workout really change the odds on the betting site? In the last draft, did any of the top 5 picks really affect the odds after workout? Like example, Jalen Green' s workout with DET, did it affect the odds that much?

No, but Cade was a crystal clear No. 1 anyway. This year it’s so close between JS, Chet and maybe even Paolo, that Teams could use the workout as a tiebreaker

It was probably the news that broke that we were going to workout Holmgrem is why the odds changed. No reports say that he had a bad workout.RookieStar wrote:Just curious, if we really are " all in " on JS, what does one bad workout really mean right?

Re: Who do you want us to take at #1?
Odds are manipulated by Vegas to influence betting patterns. Vegas prefers a more even amount amount of betting on a particular line. To many bets to one side of the line vs another is a risk to the house. So if a lot of bets are going one way they will change the odds to try and encourage betting the other direction. Most likely, with all the news of Jabari going first, most of the bets are for him going first. Most likely the odds were lowered to try and get more bets to Chet and Paolo. I wouldn’t read to much into it.
“ Why Do Betting Lines Move?
As we have seen, generally lines move because a large majority of money has been placed on one side of a single bet. The sportsbooks don’t like this because if all those bets win, they will lose money.
When the sportsbook wants to “balance the books” it will move the line to make that side of the bet more attractive.
In the example above, the Chiefs started out as favorites and attracted a lot of bets. This would have made the sportsbook concerned that they would lose money if the Chiefs won. In response, they gave the Ravens even more points so that more people would bet on them.
The most common reason for line movement is that the vast majority of public bettors are betting in one direction. Generally, the highest number of people betting on one side means that that side has the highest amount of money.”

???? Are you serious? Or are you really believing the propaganda that we already have decided?
We have the #1 pick. If our FO doesn't do its job properly by selecting the best player for our team then they should be fired. The proper thing to do is do the process on ALL top 4-5 choices before deciding. Its different if a player declines the invitation from us.

Yes, the team with the number 1 draft pick likely does not work out all the guys in the draft. However, they most definitely workout the top prospects. That would be poor due diligence if they didn't. So yes guys like Chet, Jabari, Paolo, and Ivy will likely get a workout.

Re: Who do you want us to take at #1?
I’m just not sold on Chet. Too many things can go horribly wrong. He’s going to have to put on weight, and added bulk may negatively affect his game. He didn’t look great in the NCAA’s, when he faced his best comp. Consistently pushed around, frequent foul trouble and his offensive game looked limited. Banchero is going to be a really good pro and I’d be ok with him, but Jabari is the guy. He’s more than just a shooter. People are typecasting him a bit much.
But I’m not going to whine about any of them. I could even live with a trade down to 4 to take Ivey if someone put a great package together for us.

Teams can fall in love with a player and not workout anyone else. Pat Williams after he had just won the lottery said we were drafting Shaq.Rainwater wrote:basketballRob wrote:Teams don't always work everyone out.RookieStar wrote:

Lol, that is Shaq. There is no Shaq in this draft, lol.
You make it seem like there is a clear number 1. There isn't.

I've found a picture from the future of Chet trying to post up literally anybody in the NBA.

Smith's workout reminded me of Wendell's and DSJ's. Both players we pranced out in front of the media and then picked someone else.
If Chet comes in next week and does a media session, we'll probably be picking Paolo.

Re: Who do you want us to take at #1?
We really can’t compare this draft to others in terms of who the Magic are working out. Having the #1 pick changes everything. If anything, you would think our front office would want to parade these guys around just to show they are doing their due diligence.
There is a 0% chance the Magic take someone #1 overall that they didn’t workout.
