Let me know if anyone sees the protections. I’m going to guess top 10.

Uh oh. Bad sign for DEN. Cutting costs already.

Not that JM was a GameChanger but I do think he helped a bit.

Wonder what those protections are. Probably heavy protected, but if I’m DEN I hate tying up a future FRP in a salary dump like this.

basically a repeat of Utah salary dumping Favors. A move that is going to be very painful if they do decide to tear down

Don't like this that much for OKC....maybe because I want us to draft at least 3 players and move up with either #12 or to the early 20"s

I think OKC could still easily move around in the draft without 30. And the DEN 1st is going to be a better asset unless it’s top 25 protected.

I think it's very good for OKC. Future 1st(though very distant), and a good veteran for #30 and future 2nds. Green should have some value, and you don't want 4 rookies. Thunder have plenty of ammo to move around.

If green had value on his deal he'd opt out not in

Presti addiction to future 1sts is nearing unhealthy territory.
Defense wins draft lotteries!

Solid leveraging of assets for OKC.

They didn’t really need the 30 this year.

That would be a heist.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Yeah on value its probably good for both--assuming Denver got reasonable protections on the future pick. They save some money, get a cost controlled player immediately and get a couple 2nds. OKC turns the last pick in the 1st round into a pick that can't be any worse and it keeps the pick alive as an asset as opposed to getting turned into a player that some teams may not value.

I like this for Denver, got an additional first in their win now window, two future 2nds and created an 8 million TPE to potentially fill a need. Solid trade for our new gm Calvin Booth.

Think it's pretty much impossible to call this trade a win or loss for anyone without protections and details on the seconds yet

not a loss yet for Denver, but this basically means they cant move the 2026 or 2028 1st rounders. Limits their flexibility to save a few bucks

They couldn't move those anyways. They only had 2027 and 2029 to trade.
