Older LeBron woud be a fine power forward as well as small forward even if you took away his passing. LeBron might prefer not guarding power forwards but he could guard power forwards just fine.
You could plug Jordan in as a small forward replacing LeBron on LeBron’s teams and Jordan would be fine. The LeBron era small forwards would not exploit Jordan being a little small.
I consider Bird to be a power forward playing out of position on offense. On defense Bird did guard the power forwards. On offense I think Bird would have had better stats if he had been playing with a small forward.
